I get that players want to seem tough and such, but if you get injured like that, everyone knows you're tough as nails being in the league, just stay down, don't make the injury worse. Like we can see what just happened, we all know that your knee is absolutely gone, just let them carry you off. Like them standing up on a torn ligament could easily continue to tear surrounding tissues, and cause even more permanent damage. Even in lighter injuries simply standing up on a mild tear (ie a grade 2-3 sprain) could turn a 4 week recovery into 6-8 weeks. It just sucks to see guys get injured, ya want people to play hard but ya want em on rink, not at the hospital. Hope the recovery is swift and I hope hes able to make a full recovery.
Damn, man. Scary sight when Wheeler tried to stand up and his right leg wouldn't let him. 😨😨 Very much reminiscent of Sergachev's injury when his leg buckled.
Didn’t happen exactly like this but this reminds me of when I broke the bottom of my femur bone by my knee something you can’t forget and I tried doing the same thing he did and stand up and down I went as well so yeah I could tell it was bad. Hopefully he he can make a relatively quickly recovery and get back to the game he loves
One only has to wonder if the linesman has simply dropped the phucking puck the first time, like he is supposed to, would the outcome had been different. And the answer is 100 percent yes!
These NHL linesmen not dropping the puck and then kicking guys out is absolutely the worst part of this sport. And this time it led to a potential career ending injury. That linesman should be fined and suspended.
Theres the reason why you arent allowed to fully extend your arms and push people to the ground. That should be a suspension, the NHL needs to protect their players. That easily could end Wheelers career.
You know these injuries wouldn't be happening if players knew how to take a check into the boards…… Thank the NHL for trying to take hitting out of the league.
That just happened to me in my beer game last week. I've never had an injury like this before. It doesn't really hurt much but my leg looks like the incredible hulk's from the knee down. High ankle sprain. Apparently it takes 1-2 months to heal.

similar to Sergachev
Isles fan but you hate too see any player deal with an injury like that
Damm that was an ugly injury hopefully he’s okay
ugg, i heard the scream on the first watch… Did a deft little move and then got stuck. Yeesh
Thats what he gets for flopping.
YoU nEeD PosSEsSiOn. Rotten refs
Maybe he’ll come back, but I just don’t see it. This would be a sad way for him to end his career.
We see this happen dozens of times per year, and every time it's so difficult to watch. Wishing Blake a speedy recovery.
Over 3000 miles away & I'm wincing from the slo-mo. Best of luck Blake!!
Good greif that scream made me sick to my stomach
He hurt his right leg but when he tried to get up he collapsed with his left leg???
Hate seeing my favourite ex-Jet injured like that, hope a speedy recovery 🙏

Oh man that’s really hurt! Hope he will heal quick! I had similar injury in in-line hockey game last summer and couldn’t play for 5 weeks
That was a crosscheck that took wheeler down but , ehh, it's probably just my eyes failing me 😅???
He got wheeled over…One wheeler now, no more wheelin', me guess…a wheel of unfortune? But, no hard wheelings?
I know people hate whoever they want, but I wouldn’t even wish an injury like that on Brad Marchand
Should've stayed in Winnipeg
The Rangers need to trade for Mitch Marner in exchange for Adam Fox.
thats a flop

F$%kin painful
That look season ending
The announcer is an idiot for saying "sometimes these things wear off".
Wheeler is not lying on the ice unless he's seriously hurt. 🤦♂️
The ole leg gets trapped underneath routine.
Damn.
Hate the Rags but I sure do hate injuries even more.
Hope he gets better soon. 🙏

Just drop the puck a$$wipes!
Speedy recovery Blake .. NYR nation baby !!
His career is over.
Dirty play
Full arm extension? Yep, thats a suspension. 😂

It’s so sad as much as I don’t like him as a rangers fan I wish him nothing but the best in recovery and hope he comes back for playoffs
He should be suspended

Wild fan here . Speedy recovery as that's a tough injury.
I ruptured a tendon a year ago. Couldn’t get up. It’s a bad feeling beyond the pain. Surgery and months of rehab.
I feel for Wheeler. 😢
Best of luck Wheels!!

hes out for a year or so hope he makes a good recovery
I hate refs, I hate them so much.
That’s his ACL. Hope nothing but a speedy recovery
Prayers for Wheeler's speedy recovery.
Props to Mika Zibanejad – who I met in Ottawa. WTF was the refs thinking, player is hurt, blow the whistle dead
