  1. You don't sign Walker under any circumstance. It's found value in a trade, you cash that in. Walker isn't going to be here when the team is a contender so then it makes no sense to sign him.

  2. Trade Walker sure he's not a top four Defensemen he's a good third pair Defensemen, its not my money but I dont pay over 3 millions and not over two years we are in rebuild Come on Danny Brière and I keep Ristolainen we need size and gritt more important to keep a physical Right D. With Drysdale and Oliver Bonk on the right side in the Near future

  3. Do not resign rentals. We're doing a supposed 3-4 year rebuild. Get your future assests from dudes you have no who wont be a part of the contender juggernaut you're trying to build

  4. It only makes sense to trade him if 1. One of the prospects in the AHL are ready (Andrae, Attard, Ginning, Grans) Bonk is a few years away, even this Hunter McDonald guy (Risto replacement?) is raising eyebrows, so keep an eye on him.
Or 2. They can steal a good young prospect from another team who is ready or close to being ready.
I feel if you can trade Walker & Risto but can keep Seeler on a cheap deal it’s a win.
A rebuild does not mean firesale and sell every piece you have.

  5. Seeler and walker should both be traded. If the team really wants one back, sign him in the off-season. Probably it's just due diligence and posturing to drive the price up.

  6. I'm convinced Bill and a lot of Flyers fans have never played team sports in their lives. You need some trustworthy veterans to round out the roster. Especially ones that can set a good example for the young guys.

  7. If they trade Walker, Seeler, and Risto (which literally will not happen – 0% chance of all 3, mostly because I think 0% chance risto gets moved at his salary with injury uncertainty) you still have

    1 – sanheim – 6 year vet
2 – drysdale – 3.5 year player (albeit with injuries
    3 – York – 2.5 year player
4 – Staal – billion years of experience
    5 – zamula – rookie
6 – I guess theoretically Addard/Andrae but really doesn’t matter because it’s not gonna happen.

They’ve got plenty of non-rookie starters. Also for some reason we freak out about this crap and forget the first rule of competent GM’ing (probably because we’ve seen so little of it) – that 90% of this is smokescreens and you don’t show your cards. They’re posturing that Walker (and Seeler) is a part of the future to be able to tell other teams they need more compensation. If they just come out and say there’s no way they’re keeping Walker, they lose a ton of leverage.
