The Russian expressed his desire for peace and a quick end to the conflict, however when asked about his friendship with Russian president Vladimir Putin and whether he supported the invasion, Ovechkin took a neutral stance saying ‘it’s not in my hands.’

  1. I think that it's incredibly hypocritical that Ovechkin would think Putin and Russia is so great, yet he has no problems playing in a country that has the exact opposite ideological values (autocracy/tyranny vs democracy/ freedom). If Ovechkin thinks Russia is so great, he should stay in Russia and play in the KHL.

  2. Too late Alex, many have been harmed.
Strange that you cannot say it "I am against and do not support him"… very strange.

  3. What fvcking war Ovechkin. You are so silent on your leader Aldolfo Hitzler 2.0 Vladimir Putin. Speak out or shut up.

  4. Woman and children have been killed in the Ukraine because of your Dictator Putin. Your silence is deafening. Go back to where you came from or speak out against your leaders genocide.

  5. Cancel Russian players contracts. They can either denounce Russian war against Ukraine and surrender Russian passports…. Or back to Russia.

  6. All Russian hockey players in the NHL should be immediately suspended and their salaries donated to the defense of Ukraine.

  7. To answer your loaded question: support? No, but it was necessary. U.S did worse for less and called it "support". Lybia, Syria, etc..

  8. "I'm not in politics, I'm an athlete".

Yet you used your fame as an athlete to start a fan club for a politician.

  9. How brave…not! He's a coward, an unbelievably rich coward, that needs to deported immediately for his continued support for Putin.

  10. Each and every shift Ovechkin is on the ice, the world should donate 1 million dollars to the Ukrainian people. And publicize it.

  11. Alex should be made ineligible to play in the NHL. He's a commodity from Russia and is friends and respectful to "my president", Putin.

  12. People gotta chill on Russian athletes. He clearly disagrees but if he says it he is condemned by a psycho that is in control of a country where people who speak out can disappear. I’m sure has family in Russia. It’s easy to judge what would you do

  13. Look at Jaromir Jagr and how much he has stepped up to the plate. Forget about this video. You can donate through his foundation, it is a worth cause. One hockey player who really stepped up. I have always admired him.

  14. Hypocrite, why you still have your picture with Putler , in your instagram page ? what your massage ? that you backing russian aggression toward to Ukraine ?

  15. Lip service, donate your salary this year to the people of Ukraine. I love how is English becomes more broken as he is questioned. Coward! BOYCOTT THE NHL

  16. PLease stop bullying him. He has family in Russia that has been threatened personally by Putin. You can tell he does not support him, but he has been threatened.

  17. so easy to argue for those who are not in this situation themselves. Why didn't anyone take the US out of the sport when they bombed Japan with a nuclear bomb, or killed thousands of civilians with depleted uranium bombings in Vietnam, Iraq, Kosovo etc.?

  18. You can tell he’s against the war, but can’t say it. I’m sure he’s worried bout his family and friends if he says too much.

  19. kick Ovechkin out of the USA, he supports the war. He smiles in your eyes, and behind his back he wishes that Russia would destroy the United States.
