Jim Montgomery PRAISES Jeremy Swayman After Bruins WIn vs Stars | Postgame Interview

About the way s played today shootout regation uh you know he’s a battler and I think that really showed because you know they’re a shot volume team and they take a lot of shots from the point they got the first two goals on deflections but it doesn’t

Deter them he just keeps fighting that’s why we call him bullog and then you know in the shootout I he was awesome right hardly 24 hours after he get signed rozzo gets his first goal what kind of discussions were you having with the scouting team about how to allow him to

Fully succeed make an impact well I I think we got a lot of good information from the coaching staff excuse me think I’m going to sneeze there it is thank you everybody um but you know the coaching staff gave us coaches feedback but you know it’s it’s a great job done by our

Scouting Department um signing him having belief in him but you got to give a lot of credit to the young man I mean he was wasn’t signed to an NHL deal he keeps on working he was here every day in the summer he lost I don’t know how

Many pounds but he lost a significant amount to be able to show how much he wanted to be an NHL player and I just think it’s a great story for anyone that tells you you can’t do something or that you’re not good enough or you’re not tall enough or you’re not smart enough

Whatever the case is no one can tell you what you believe inside you and give the credit to the young man because I think he has a lot of intestinal fortitude what his face look like when he’s skating by the bench to celebrate when you look down and what it looked like um

You know what I I didn’t get a chance I I saw the big smile in the corner you know um but when he came back to the bench he sat away from me he’s pretty smart whenever you get so late into your shootout how much of your decision

Making process of who shoots uh goes on instincts versus structure so to speak goes on instincts yeah you know uh you go a fair amount deep um where we think there’s guys that are going to have success and then after that it goes to uh you know who we think you know

Instinct I’m just behind the bench you know I can tell you that I went with CMAC I didn’t like goalie Bob suggestions the other day after the game you said that uh the team’s going to have to pull out of this right here the team’s going to have to pull team’s

Going to have to pull out of this uh together and I’m wondering you know how did you think they did in that respect you know the results are are funny sometimes like I thought we deserved a better fate the last three games I think we kind of got lucky

Tonight like you know we we worked hard for it uh we stayed uh with the process in the third I thought in the second it got away from us a little bit you know and I thought that territorially we were too much in our own end um but you know

I said it takes you know a special kind of um something H has to happen to overcome you know to get out of a malaise like we were in result wise and we got the great effort by our goenda five you know our great players made great plays at the time where you

Need to tie the game up you think Bo was had a some sort of comfort level with two guys from up from Providence yeah it could have been uh because yeah he he played Dynamite he was on top of his game all three of them were really good and again that’s a

Credit to the development staff and the coaching staff down in Providence What specifically did you like about the fourth line scame I know bra first but know one the first times in a while all season where the fourth line has kind of Taken charge and been the line for the

Te I I just like the way they played to our team identity of getting Pucks in getting on the four check holding on the pucks wearing out the goal line the back of the net you know there wasn’t much risk and there was a lot of reward to

What the way they played and second and third effort on pucks was evident any update on hampus lindol uh I don’t have anything concrete yet um you know so we’ll know more tomorrow what have you thought of Rashad I he’s been good you know he gives us energy I think he puts the

Other team on their heels because of his speed everything that we kind of wanted I think he’s done for us you know and I think he’s getting more accustomed to the you know our team identity which I’m sure doesn’t matter we play the same systems as Providence it’s they probably

Have a different identity than we do it seems like every game now lately the league defenseman boxes out of forward he spins he falls on the goalie how are you coaching your team to respond to that right now because it seems like ref’s are letting that happen and shove

Shove and that’s the end of it I mean how far do you let this go before you try to be more oh I think if we think something’s intentional uh we’ll address it but um you know if it’s just a guy spinning off trying to get to the net

And maybe maybe we shove them into the goal tender that’s a different situation but we’re always trying to create a pocket for a goal tender so that they have time and space to not only make the save but in case they give up a rebound they can cover it up the third goal

Against um what leads to that those game management situations just frustration trying to do too much or what what do you see there um well the game’s tied when that happened right like so we’re just playing our our normal ozone play and Puck goes in the corner to week side

Defense that’s his area to retrieve pucks and you know I’m we it kend up me in a 50/50 and I think our forward replaced our defenseman like he’s supposed to but then when we get that puck we got to go back behind the that it’s we got that

Puck and we tried to go up top with it and when you go up top with it you and it doesn’t click then you’re going to have a two-on-one um you know there’s a couple of guys maybe they could have got back quicker but the onus is putting

That puck back behind the netec especially when you know what defenseman’s already in on such a special day when you see Mar put that uh put round sh to extend the game what do you think of you escap to the bench well I’m just happy for him uh because you

Know he’s a guy that I don’t know if anybody is there’s been a lot of great Bruins and there’s been a lot of guys that have matched his love for the spoked B but I don’t think anyone’s everever exceeded it so it’s just great

The Boston Bruins snapped a four-game losing streak with a 4-3 win over the Dallas Stars on Monday. Coach Montgomery praised Jeremy Swayman’s resilience, saying, “He’s a battler and I think that really showed…they got the first two goals on deflections, but it doesn’t deter him. He just keeps fighting. That’s why we call him Bulldog. And then in the shootout…he was awesome.”

  1. Great job, gentlemen. A nice comeback win. Sway really deserves the game puck!! Let's keep it rolling on the road.

  2. Lets see this team win more than 6 in a row. They loose 5 of 6. I want to see this team win 10 plus games in a row like fla like Oilers. This team will lose vs Oilers . Thats an automatic loss. For any team.
