I think this is pretty fair for both sides. Penalty killer. Solid bottom 6 player. Great puck retrieval guy. Definitely improving every year. Great below the goal line possession player.

When you look around the league, wingers with his production get between $3-4M AAV for similar term so this is a nice deal that we were able to get out of the way. I really think he’ll be a guy that helps us once we’re in our playoff window in more ways than one.

With the cap going up over the next few years $3.2 for a 3rd/4th line winger that can play center, PK and up the lineup this seems like a great bet on a player that works really hard.

Ras took a lot of heat in his first few years because of his high draft pedigree but he has really turned into a heart and soul guy for this team, which is invaluable. I love how he has developed and cant wait to see how crazy he gets as he continues

Gives Detroit a solid, cost-controlled forward for the foreseeable future, and gives Ras a long contract that matches, term wise, a lot of the current pseudo “core,” at a fair rate. On balance, one might think he’s worth a hair less, but his line this year has been on point a lot. Well earned, well paid. Nice.
