  1. Sure, we could do the 'broker' thing, but what do we need with…uuuggghhh…yet another 2nd, 3rd, or 4th round pick? How many farm teams are we trying to stock here??? Unless we're going to package some of these picks and prospects up for a real sure-fire asset, it seems a bit pointless.

  2. There is no timetable, it's more about what type of player you are targeting ( Dach, Newhook ) and if such a player is available. We need to start figuring out what our second and third line is going to look like, and find the players that will give us two more top lines on offense.

  3. Because we may be picking 5-8th place, HUGO may have no choice but to draft another top Dman. There are 3-4 amazing young defenseman that would be better than several of the ones we already have ( Harris, Trudeau, Strubble, Kovacevic, Norlinder ). With Reinbacher, Hudson, Bogan, Engstrom, Mailloux already in the fold, we can most certainly make hard decisions and move young Dman or two to get a young top 3line winger or Center.

  4. Accelerating the rebuild is a huge mistake. Putting very young players under the playoff pressure will force them to skip full development into only trying to win.
What happens with this approach is one step forward and two steps back.
It's okay to trade draft picks. Montreal is in a unique position to play these drafted players to see their value in NHL play. Take advantage of this timing.
Look what happened to the Drouin trade what Montreal gave up. No repeats please of that mistake.

  5. Need to keep stacking picks imo, you use them for trade captial. Captial Habs will need when they time comes to trade Gally and Anderson. That could cost 1st rounders, while the ones we have left traded when we hit a win window. So no we need more of them still, ideally 2026 or later

  6. With cap limitations for contenders, trades such as Armia will only happen in summer. Broader market and time to get best deal. This summer can be huge for this team. Keep the best 1st next draft and year after – package others to sweeten some deals. This should sort out top 9 and D. Need talent coming in every year to keep dev stream spitting out NHL ready replacements as some of our young players need bigger deals and so must be traded to keep salary profile within the cap where it needs to be to be Cup contender for multiple seasons.

  7. Trying Anderson out on the 2nd line with Newhook makes a lot of sense to me. But it does seem like he isn’t getting his scoring touch back. It is a very big Yikes thinking he once could have fetched a 1st without retaining any of his $5.5M.

  8. They moved Armia because the Evans line with Pearson and andersen was AWEFUL! So Marty broke the line up. Hard to put Anderson on thr fouth line because he is a defensive nightmare. So they toss him up and switch Pearson for Gally. Not really about Roy or Armia.

  9. Awesome track record on craig button…. in all seriousness guys trust the process. Weve been in limbo for my whole life, lets do this one right.

  10. Hey Josh.
I have my opinion on this episode,
Why would Hughes use his last retention stop for Adam Henrique to get a 3rd or 4th round pick,
Hughes has already staited he don't want another picks, at least not late ones .
    He's looking for prospects.
Besides, the retention stop is for a Jake Allen trade, or he might use it , if a better offer comes his way. Not a 3rd or 4th , that's nonsense. Hughes has more than enough draft picks
He's wants to use them , not retain more .
1st or 2nd he might budge , but 3rd or 4th , I don't see Hughes entertaining that idea at all. It absolutely make no sense

  11. here a topic for a pod cast… WOULD YOU TRADE 2 FIRST ROUND 1 SECOND ROUND PICK FOR A TOP PLAYER? like a Lindros style trade…

  12. 3rd and 4th round pick for 1.5M no way not worth it !!! J. Molson should invest that elsewhere, build more refrigerated outdoor rinks !!!

  13. Unless we can get a good deal I would give it one more year. Being impatient won't do us any good. Next year they should be buyers though. I don't want Suzuki to turn 30 before he can win some games.

  14. You're simply looking at this from the wrong angle Josh, we don't care about winning. It's nothing against Joel but we're tanking and we need Josh Anderson's value to come back up. Now that Roy is properly settled in and Newhook is back in Biz, these on this line are the 2 in the lineup, with their playmaking vision and quickness to act & react, who can help Josh Anderson the most in racking in more points and boost his value before the fast approaching trade deadline.

  15. Habs arent going anywhere till they figure out who plays net, Monty while good is not a number 1. Is Fowler that guy, if so, when is he ready?

  16. I rather prefer see an Anderson or Armia leaving or to get a next 2nd-3rd line player ton get the team ready to start winning… then to retain salary yet for another pick.

Let’s start building a team to make the playoff next year.
