His handling of Skinner in the media was terrible but wanting Skinner to commit more to defense was a valid concern

  2. seeldoger47

Do you prefer the defensively responsible low event Krueger era Skinner or the high event Housely and Granato era Skinner?

  3. Rockhardwood

Looool I’ve definitely been on the far right in the past. But hey, we as fans wanted a coach where there was 0 accountability instead, and he was the players best friend.

Buffalo Fans deserve the world for all the crap they’ve dealt with.

  5. Little known fact, he’s contractually not allowed on waivers or into the defensive zone. It’s an extended no move clause.

You don’t see it in broadcasts but anyone who has been to a game will tell you he spends half of every game hanging out between the blue lines waiting for a breakout pass. Whether that’s by design or that’s just Jeff being Jeff I have no idea.

I like him. He’s been one of my favorite players on the team for a long time…

Find a buyer, eat half his cap hit, and trade him.

Boost his value and trade him or find a way to use the players you’re given.

Leaving your 9 million aav player – and best 5v5 player by the metrics at the time, iirc – as a healthy scratch was never the answer, no matter what.

    Fuck Krueger, always and forever.

Why won’t this square peg fit in a round hole!

  9. Skinner is a multiplier of the sabres as a team. When they are doing well, he’s doing exponentially well. When they suck… He’s a industrial sized hoover.

  10. It’s broken all us. They were so close to going to the playoffs last year and everyone was improving so well that going into this year we all had so many high hopes. Sure one or two players might disappoint but that’s ok. That didn’t happen, it’s the entire damn roster that is not living up to their expectations and their paychecks. Only JJ and maybe Quinn (when he wasn’t hurt) lived up to my expectations. Everyone else sucks, bad!

  11. Jeff skinner will likely never play a single playoff game

  12. Ralph Krueger was right about literally nothing but Skinner was 100% overpaid.

hot take but if we can’t have good hockey i at least like high event hockey so Skinner’s alright in my book

Looking at Skinner as a problem is looking in the wrong area, but everyone who screams this is looking for an easy scapegoat.

Nobody says he is our best scorer.
He is an above average scorer, on a team that needs it.

There is NOTHING WRONG with having one of these guys on your team.. NOTHING. You need them. You just don’t want too many of them.

Why is this hard to comprehend? Skinner is not the issue. He drives play, he draws a ton of penalties. Is he weak in the D-end? Sure. But he’s not being paid to be elite over there. Hell, I dont even care if he is average. I want him to score.

I don’t even care if Dahlin is elite in the d end.. just be serviceable and get me 80 points. Nobody screams at Erick Karlsson because he doesn’t have “grit”.

I look at some of the guys that don’t produce offensively at a high level, and aren’t solid anywhere else.

He’s coming off B2B 30 goal years, and just hit his career high in assists. But yeah, he’s probably the issue..🥴

How about this: Rod Brind’Amour was right about Skinner in 2018–he wasn’t gonna help Carolina make the playoffs or win playoff games. Jason Botterill gave up very little to make an OK trade and give a struggling team a little punch. The $9m contract extension is an abomination. Krueger misused the talent he had. Granato used him well in a low consequences, no stakes 2022-23 season. Now that it’s time to make the playoffs, Rod Brind’Amour was right.
