[buffalo hockey now] Sabres AGM Jason Karmanos has been in attendance for the Avalanche’s last two home games. Are the Buffalo Sabres and Colorado Avalanche working on a trade?

  1. Mitts + EJ for a defenseman?

I don’t follow the Aves much so not sure who’s available, but they need a center right?

Obviously they didn’t sign EJ but I assume he would go back, and he would already be comfortable with the players and their system. We could easily retain salary if that’s an issue.

  2. Colorado isn’t giving up anyone that can help them win the cup this year.

  3. Byram for Mittelstadt seems like the most logical exchange as Byram is not performing particularly well so it would be an immediate upgrade for Colorado, and there’s enough upside in Byram for it to make sense for Buffalo a well (other than the obvious positional exchange).

Then they’d probably want the Sabres to take on Johansen’s contract, which should be a fine 3C for a couple of years for Buffalo. And maybe they miss Johnson and want him back for the vibes and some depth. This would probably cost Colorado a 1st assuming there is some kind of bidding war going on for Mittelstadt.

    Three months from now:

Karmanos Named Head of Avalanche Pro Scouting Department.

  5. There’s no deal to be made with Colorado that we don’t come out on the short end of. They’re not gonna give up anyone they need for a cup run this season and Buffalo chasing wins at this point is just Adams trying to make a big splash at the end to keep his job. Give them Olofsson for FCs and a team-signed jersey.

Because I see nothing outside of “Be a GM mode”, non-sense trades that would interest me in the slightest, I’ll propose that maybe Karamanos likes to ski and is scouting a couple of visiting teams while there. AZ and Vancouver were the two games, FWIW.

No. The Sabres are not a serious NHL franchise. This is just a hockey game trying to catch a good live hockey game for the first time this year.
