It wasn’t all pretty, but it wasn’t all ugly either. Maybe the Washington Capitals were the right team at the right time for the Colorado Avalanche to square off against to end their four game losing streak, which they did with a 6-3 victory in the nation’s Capital.
Artturi Lehkonen led the way with a 2 goal, 2 assist night including one beautiful between the legs set up for Mikko Rantanen. In fact, the Avs got point productions up and down the forward lines in this one. Something that has been lacking as of late.
But problems still persist including some defensive lapses and clearing problems.
All in all, you’ll take the two points and the W.

I feel the Caps sacrifice wins to give Ovechkin maximum ice time. I consider him the laziest player in the NHL. I know that's controversial, but just concentrate on watching him when he's on the ice. There is no way the Avs should've lost to the Caps. RyJo looks forlorn sitting on the end of the bench. He knows he's not valuable to this team. Watch out for McDavid. Six assists last might.
Lehky kind of had a hat trick considering the 2nd Caps goal went off his skate 😂 Loved Mikko’s face after that sick pass by Lehky between his own and the defenseman’s legs. Not the best game as a team overall but certainly an improvement and a step in the right direction. These guys have been on the road a lot lately and I think once they get through this brutal east coast road stretch of 5 away, 2 home and 6 more away, things will begin to improve. We tend to overlook these guys are still just regular human beings that are great at playing hockey and being away from home wears on you. I didn’t necessarily expect this stretch to be this bad but I didn’t have any expectations it was going to be great for that reason alone.
The penalty on Mansson made up to keep the Ovi steak alive is confirmed lol.

As for the Avs: you were right about the defense. I said in subtext that the defense looked good and yall pointed out where they werent good. HOWEVER… after watching Carolina get an odd man rush for what seemed like every line change, this game was a breath of fresh air. Georgiev never got hung out to dry in a 1 on 1 situation and it resulted in a win. Now if only we could land Fleury (cap space made by moving on from RyJo)….
