What’s going on hockey friends we are back and so another world juniors has come and gone and once again I’m reminded of why I absolutely love them the chaos the fearlessness the passion everything it’s honestly the highlight of the hockey year and such a nice Christmas tradition and this year was no

Different so this video will be me just blabbering on about things that happened in this tournament some controversy some players that I liked I will give my All-Star team and just summarizing and closing the book on another great tournament so first off it hurts it hurts being Swedish it hurts but I have

To give my congratulations to the Americans Team USA this was basically their graduation from the development program and most of them have been playing together for years now and they were the favorites going into this tournament they looked a bit shaky against Finland in the semi-final but

Other than that they looked so good so together the chem chry you can tell they’ve been playing together for a long time now and I mean some of the goals they score are just incredible and in the end I think they deserve to win and

I have a feeling we’re going to see a lot of these guys tearing it up in the NHL in just a few years guys like cutter gotier Lane Hudson Will Smith Jimmy snuggerud Isaac Howard Frank nasar you get the idea I could name basically the whole team but again congratulations to the

Americans so Sweden my dear team Sweden I’m uh I’m obviously sad this was one of the best teams Sweden has produced in recent years and they’ve had a bit of a rivalry with the US in the under 18 finals in 23 and 22 with this us team so

It kind of made sense that this would be the final and with the tournament being in my hometown in golenberg I had the privilege of going to a few games and I just absolutely loved it it was so nice The Vibes in the city were Immaculate and so was this team

I felt like they could go all the way but if you let up five goals excluding the empty net in a final then you don’t deserve to win I think there were a lot of impressive performances on this team obviously Jonathan ler Macky tournament MVP top goal scorer once again proved

What an lead Prospect the Canucks have on their hands and Noah usland was just incredible I actually thought he was Sweden’s best player in this tournament but lecki scores the goals the clutch goals and he will get the headlines for that deservedly he was also very very good uto stanberg scoring the hattrick

In his home rink in front of my own very two eyes was also something I’ll carry with me from this tournament and in the end he’s over a point per game he was quietly over a point per game in this tournament and I’m betting the St Louis

Blues are licking their lips because not only did he look good Theo linin looked so good and he was the late addition to this team and while we’re on the topic of the Blues Jimmy snuggerud like I mentioned earlier that guy will be stopped by the TSA when he gets back

Because he’s carrying a cannon in his back pocket and lastly another Blues prospect that looked good Jacob stanel from team czechia winning the bronze medal in probably the craziest game of this tournament and while we’re on the topic of that also a massive massive shout out to Jerry kulage what a player

He is and also this Czech team and the entire Czech Hockey Association that’s a bronze medal this year silver last year and I think they deserve a lot of respect and if we get any major best on best International Tournament in a few years and no I’m not talking about the

World Cup of Hockey with four teams and gimmick teams like team Europe I’m talking about a proper best on best tournament with like 12 teams or something I think the cchs have a great generation coming up and a great chance to make a splash in a tournament like that

The fins coming up short in a bronze medal game is still a passing grade for me I didn’t think too much of their team going into this tournament I was excited to watch ksta helenius and he was good but after their loss to Germany in the first game I didn’t think they were

Going to do too much but hey they pushed the US to the brink in the semi-final and lost thanks to let’s call it a pretty weak call I’ll get to the refs in just a bit but yeah the fin still had a decent tournament but losing the bronze like they did must

Sting so the biggest talking point of the tournament has undoubtedly been the referees and I mean I get it I think one period where it all manifested itself was in that Finland versus Us game I mean such a weak call to get the Americans on the power play late in the

Game and obviously they score on that power play and then after that the most obvious makeup call I’ve seen in my life it didn’t help the fins and then there was an icing call that wasn’t even close to crossing the goal line and that was just like a desperation call from the

Ref to try and make something up but I mean those final five six minutes in that game were some of the worst I’ve seen in a game with such importance overall the standard fell off as we progressed in the tournament and that’s a major issue I don’t know if

It’s communication issues as the refs are different nationalities but the frustration from us fans is sometimes misguided of course there will be Mis calls but I think some of the complaints stem from the fact that the refs are going by double IHF rule book and not the NHL they are different and treat

Things like big hits different like the Morgan geeky one against Germany that’s a game misconduct in this rule book in the double IHF rule book and that’s what we’re going by I understand the frustration and we have this debate every year but we also need to rewire our brains when we watch international

Hockey and realize that the rules are different whether that’s a good thing or not it’s up for debate but sadly these are the facts so before we get to my All-Star team we got to get some words in on the Canadians because that was an absolute stinker I’m sorry yeah it

Wasn’t their best team ever and they weren’t the favorites going into this tournament but going out in the quarterfinals in that fashion as well felt very appropriate for this team the only takeaway I have is mckin celebrini and I think this is the first time I mentioned him on my channel but yeah

He’s going first of all this summer probably making a video on him during the Spring here he was the only bright spot on this team and I feel bad because I met some really nice Canadians on the town during this tournament and I would have liked to see their team do much

Better because they talked about how they booked this trip so far in advance it’s a long trip to come here as well but Team Canada couldn’t make them proud but hey it is what it Is so moving on to my All-Star team and starting off with the goalies I don’t think any goalie really performed their consistent bases throughout this tournament hugu haved was the best goalie until the semi-finals then I thought he just lost control and the gold medal game was not very good from

Him you could argue a goal or two were unlucky but at the end of the day it’s five goals against in a final and I don’t think you can be the best goalie at that point he also looked a bit shaky overall in that final so the goalie in

My Allstar team will be Trey Austin he showed up when he had to and he won every game he played also a Red Wings Prospect and there will be another one coming up right now because the first player in my defensive pairing is Axel sandine pela and also Lane Hudson but

There are a few other names you can throw in here like Theo lindstein and Thomas hamara but I thought Axel sandine pelica was unbelievable he had some clutch moments he looked so mature and good so smooth I mean just another great defenseman for the Red Wings for the

Future and with Lan Hudson just such a joy to watch and you know he’s predominantly an offensive minded defenseman but he stepped up his defensive game as well and he played over 27 minutes in that gold medal game and he was a big factor in the US

Winning gold for my three forwards I’m going cutter go Jerry kulich and I’m actually snubbing Jonathan leer Macky for Noah usland like I said earlier I thought he was Sweden’s best player this tournament I was blown away by some of the things he did he was unbelievable he

Hit the dab he created so much space for himself so Shifty so entertaining the only issue really is that he couldn’t hit a barn door and I get why L macki gets MVP and all that but I think overall I was more impressed by Len’s

Game J kulich once again shows up at the world juniors this was his third and final tournament and he spent to a medal game in all of them winning silver last year winning bronze this year and in his first year they went to the bronze medal

Game but lost but I mean this tournament he just kind of took over he scored six goals in seven games that’s a very good return he’s clutch he’s a leader and he’s the second saber prospect on this forward side in my All-Star team along with Noah Oland so saber fans get

Excited kulich and tourament tied with cter go for most points and he had four points in that bronze medal game comeback and he was just very good so lastly cter goer also 12 points world champion with the Americans what a tournament he had what a player he is

The Flyers have quite the player on their hands well that is something I would say if he was still a flyers Prospect while I’m editing this video he’s on his way to Anaheim crazy trade and now it’s Anheim ducks that have a great player on their hands let’s get

Back to the video he scored a winning goal in that controversial semi-final against Finland but what a nasty snipe that was he’s been performing on the international stage now for several years in the under 20s under 18s as well as the Men’s World Championship and I think next year he’s definitely ready

For the big show so there we are closing the book on yet another world juniors I loved it it was so much fun being there in person for the first time and I mean I’m a bit bummed about the outcome but hey it is what it is if you watch till the end

This tournament featured some great performances from players like Axel Sandin Pellikka, Lane Hutson, Cutther Gauthier, Jiri Kulich and more! On a personal note, the gold medal game didn’t go my way but it is what it is and this tournament was still a blast! I hop you enjoy.
