As the Detroit Red Wings explore the market and look to add non-rental pieces to their roster, young forward Jonatan Berggren remains an asset they are dangling as bait. The 23-year-old is having an outstanding year in the AHL, with 38 points in 37 games to date, and performed well in a brief sting with the big club. But word is he recently rejected a contract extension pitched by the Red Wings and wants a shot at a full-time NHL gig, something he clearly isn’t getting right now in Detroit. Around five teams, including Calgary and Montreal, have expressed interest.

Man this trade deadline should be interesting, especially if the wings are buyers.
Well now.
Could be something to this for sure, could be he was given a lowball extension offer and this is to drum up and fan the fire some. Stevie grinds contracts is the usual description and it could just be part of that, or it could easily be wanting the NHL time he should have and leveraging his way into it.
Seems like an agent talking to Pagnotta
Steven will not like this
Can’t blame him really
Don’t really understand why people like this guy so much
Detroit was likely offering a two way deal and he wants a full NHL contract.
Doesn’t really matter though cause there’s no way he’d clear waivers anyway.
It’s more of a stamp of confidence which probably hurts to not get.
Interesting development
Good for him, he deserves to be in the nhl
LOL Jonatan Berggren is an idiot to turn down the contract, he’s a pending RFA with no arb right. if Yzerman wants to be a prick he can send him to Europe for the rest of his life and we still own his right since he was pitched an offer. He should’ve signed it and it would’ve given Yzerman more leverage in a trade.
Can we package him to Calgary for a D?
He gone
Watch him develop into what we wanted Zadina to become…
But somewhere else 😞
