That's why dubas is an idiot should have became younger on the off season and never brought in karlsson for giving up 2 goals against NY
Yes! Finally a youth movement! This can be done around this core.
If youth is the objective now they need to continue to push doc, pusti, jp, nylander, poulin, into the roster. I just dont know how you get rid of the smiths, raks, ect and clear roster and cap space. Also why did he bring in so many older players in the offseadon on term.
Pittsburgh should of signed Matt Dumba instead of getting EK. Hes more the type of defenceman that the Penguins need
Love the blink 182 shirt there Horwat!
Point of interest: Much like Russians, Swedes vastly prefer to play with other Swedes—and tend to perform BETTER when doing so, in general. Karlsson and Pettersson meshing is hardly surprising.
I think Sullivan needs to go. They team just doesn't seem like they are responding to him anymore. My last straw was the beginning of the OT this last game. YES, you absolutely have to have the bottom two lines contribute and not put the burden of scoring totally on the first two lines. HOWEVER, I don't care how well somebody played during a game, there's no way you start just a five-minute overtime without Crosby, Malkin, Guentzel (had he been healthy) or Rust being out there. That was insane.
The Penguins I feel could try to model what The LA Kings did. When their run was over, they didn't strip it all down. They kept most of their core together Dustin Brown (up until he retired two years ago), Anze Kopitar, Drew Doughty, and up to until last year Jonathan Quick. They went out and surrounded those veteran guys with younger players that have for most part worked for them, as they have been a playoff team the last two years and are probably going to make it again this season.
Kyle is talking about youth then he need to tell Sully that he need to lower Cater minutes. He's out on the ice way to much
Corey Perry has looked pretty good in Edmonton. Heâs old but could have helped the penguins for maybe at least this season. But doesnât really matter at this point lol.
What you guys mentioned about the cons of resigning Guentzel are why I'm surprisingly hesitant to just hang onto him. The other thing to consider is after Nylander's deal, Guentzel could get $10 million per year. The Pens could just do it and sign him but he's 30 years old, that deal can eventually age badly, and they'll have less money to invest into other parts of their team that badly need that cap space. I think of 2008 when they brought in Hossa, and hoped to sign him long term. It stung at first when they couldn't sign him but they wouldn't have had as much money to improve other parts of the team. The Pens badly need more scoring depth and tying up all that money in Guentzel is not going to help that. It's unfortunate because Guentzel is Crosby's best winger and can still play, but he's had 2 major injuries in the past year. That usually doesn't mix well with turning 30 and this team has too many 30+ year olds that probably need moved out too.
Why arenât the pens playing Ty Smith? Heâs young and his past nhl numbers are very good for a defenceman
Sweet Jebus, guys. You bend over backwards making excuses for Karlsson, but are going on about Jake's age??
Pens have a 144 GA (3rd best), are a +11 GD which should place them 3rd in Met. They are 7th in Met and out of playoffs because they are 7 wins, 16 losses in one goal games. And that comes down to …..
Trade jarry for markstrom we need a workhorse of a goalie
He also has a bunch of no movement clauses also and on top of that and really outside of Monahan and Lindholm, not much trade activity has happened across the league this year. It'll start to pickup over the next week as the deadline gets closer, it always does. We don't need him to make a trade for the sake of it Ron Hextall did that last year, and the Penguins ended up with Mikael Granlund.
Solid episode guys! And some awesome news. Looking forward to the trades.
A name I have heard a couple of times (although linked to BOS) is 6â4â 225lb product of PhoenixâŠ24 yr old Mark Kastelic, 4th line centre for OTT.
Third year in the league and should be through the wall and over the jinx by now as well.
A player with term, an Uncle named Pat Stapleton, and if nothing else would give the team a jolt of energy for 5-8 minutes a game.
All for the princely sum of $850k per season.
This is the type of player no one has ever heard of yet can play an important role in solidifying the bottom six for years to come.
like dont forget dubas could get rid of jarry and ned maybe bloomquist look like hes ready next season maybe ???
Drink and all that's missing is the burp.
