It’s been over due. This team and been living on its laurels since 2019 and it’s cost them their identity. The team has lots of pieces but the second the signed Johnny they lost their direction and perceived themselves as a playoff team when there was no evidence they were.

Elliott Friedman says Jarmo had a trade lined up for Jenner, but ownership blocked it because they didn't want to move him. Laine won't be moved at a low point in his value. I figure Davidson will be out the door as soon as a new GM is named.

Kekäläinen did a lot good too and leave very good team for succesor. I predict team is in playoffs in couple years. Kekäläinen just lost team and owners when he hired Babcock and then defenced Babcock when phone incident came public. But if I understood correctly, he didnt do decision for hiring Babcock alone? Fact is that they never should have hire Babcock when there was a lot big names available last summer. For Laine, in my mind Vincent is bad coach, he put Laine in center and then bench him and not teach him or give him time, Vincent bencing every guy instead teaching them. Next summer once they hire new coach Laine and Gaudreau can find they game back. CLB shouldnt trade Laine now.
First of all, Jenner is not getting moved. Second of all, certainly not for THOSE trades…Third, the Leafs simply do not have the assets to land a player like Jenner or Laine. Fourth, Laine is not likely to be traded at the deadline. He is at low value right now and the Jackets are not moving him in which he would be perceived as a cap dump. Finally, Laine’s contract is too big of a hurdle for any team to absorb right now. The Jackets would have to retain and Ownership has very little appetite to retain on deals that involve multiple years of retention.
