It's super sad about Edwards, never been a B's fan, but he's always been super entertaining to me. Faust is a terrific caster though, he was in LA for a couple years and did a terrific job.

I hate hearing about the LTIR issue. Its not that teams are using LTIR to get under the cap. its team that are using LTIR to get under the cap but miraculously are healthy enough to play Game 1 of the playoffs 2 days after the final game of the season. Stone conveniently goes on LTIR 2 weeks before the trade deadline, im sure he will remain out until the end of the season come back for game 1 of the playoffs, and vegas will play 10m over the salary cap for the entire playoffs. Must be nice having an extra $10m player (1st line player) playing for your team in the playoffs that another team doesnt have.
If teams want to use LTIR to get under the cap and the player misses the last game of the season, they should have to sit out at minimum until game 4 of the playoffs. Or next CBA they need to keep the cap the way that it is so you can carry 28 players or w/e on the roster but change it so that the team on the ice does not exceed the salary cap. So the 23 players on the bench cannot exceed 80m or w/e but you can have $10m still sitting in the press box
Tbh I kind of enjoy the trade speculation, not because I think it's going to happen, but because it's unhinged and entertaining to me. That said, if I wasn't getting almost all of it through people who are willing to SAY that it's wild speculation and probably won't happen, I wouldn't be able to enjoy it at all.

I hope Jack Edwards is doing alright, like Shannon said hockey is an extremely fast paced game and it's really easy to stumble over your words even if you aren't suffering from any medical conditions. I really hope he's alright in the long run, it must also be hard on him, struggling to do something you've done for decades. Nothing but respect for him, a passionate announcer who loves the game.

It almost feels like the next flurry of trades are waiting on Vancouver to kick things off again, but it probably just comes down to teams either waiting closer to the deadline to assess needs in case of injuries or the mid-block of maybe playoff teams holding out hope that they're still in the mix by the deadline. Nashville is still on the bubble and they should demand a king's ransom for Saros, because without him they're not a playoff bubble team anymore.
Shannon, would it be possible for you to at some point to a video about IR and LTIR? The differences, pros and cons of each, the rules and all that. I understand the basics but it would be great if you could explain it in detail, especially with how many teams are using it and have been the last few seasons.

Speech pathologist here! Sounds to me like Jack has dysarthria, and I hope his sessions are going well. Unfortunately there isn't that much we can do, it's moreso to prevent further deterioration.

This is exactly why I follow this channel. Seeing others speculate and push a narrative that has no basis in facts aggravates me to no end.
Your best players make the most so it would be ideal to have them on lTIR until the playoffs especially if your team has a very high chance to make it

I feel bad for the fans that think trade rumors are real and not mostly speculation. Ive seen people pissed off at their gm thinking the "rumor" came from their teams FO.
I hope Jack has had an MRI done on him very recently. This exact same thing happened to my dad. One day he was fine, slowed and slurred speech a little, the next day he had a brain tumor and a terminal illness

I for one am sorry to hear Mr. Edwards is not well but it would be best for him to retire. It’s likely that he does have a degenerative brain disease and chances are this is going to progress and not get better. He is not a pilot , a surgeon or a police officer so obviously not critical to life and limb if he continues but it is affecting his performance to the point the only way to watch is with the TV on mute. It ‘s been widely debated and noticed for years not just recently. To cap matters off he has been also encountering controversy with the bizarre things that he says about players. Most notably shaming Maroon for being fat! So, It’s the nature of the entertainment business that scenarios like this and even less severe issues such as simply aging plays out cruelly for many in the business and particularly for women broadcasters every single day.

Jack Edwards needs to go regardless
At this point barring injuries it would be a shock to see Mathews score less than 65 minimum. All the guy seems to do is score goals, he could conceivably still hit 80 although that would be unlikely but not impossible, 27 games left and he would need 29 goals. The guy likes to score in bunches, lets say he has a high 5 goals in a game which is definitely possible for a guy who scored 4 the very first game he ever played in the NHL and has a couple of hat tricks besides that and is consistent in the rest of the games. It's unlikely but still within the realm of possibilities.

I have noticed that Jack Edwards sometimes stumbles in the middle of a sentence, but not him slurring words. To be honest, I'm more likely to notice his peculiar phrases, such as quoting the song "Old Man" by Neil Young when the puck is iced. Last week he actually said someone "stroked it in deep" when the puck was dumped into the offensive zone!
Honestly I am really glad you don't go into the random trade speculation and rumours. SO many other channels I have stopped watching because all they do is report random wisps of rumours every day just to produce content. Can't watch any Habs channels because every day is just rumour after rumour about Allen or Savard or the defencemen that have zero substance and just repeat the same points over and over. They all use super clickbaity titles and after the second one you can tell they are just making videos f or clicks rather then having actual news.
I have been subbed to this channel for years now because you don't do that. When I see a news video I know it is about actual news.
