Aaron Ekblad, Panthers Postgame: Carolina Hurricanes 1, Florida 0

Florida Panthers defenseman Aaron Ekblad speaks after his team lost to the host Carolina Hurricanes 1-0 on Thursday, Feb. 22, 2024.

Sebastian Aho broke the ice with 18.9 seconds remaining to give Carolina the win.

Florida saw its six-game winning streak end — as well as its 11-game road winning streak. The Panthers would have tied the NHL record with a win on Thursday.

Sergei Bobrovsky made 28 saves for Florida in the loss.

The Panthers played the final 40 minutes without Matthew Tkachuk and Gus Forsling as both did not come out for the second and were ruled out of the game.

Florida had not lost on the road since visiting Calgary on Dec. 18; the road streak started in Tampa on Dec. 27.

The Panthers are back home Saturday night against the Washington Capitals.
