Then in OT, Larkin drops a beautiful behind the back feed to Kane who buries his 10 of the season (12th player w/ 10+ goals) to win it in OT. It couldn’t have been done with out Alex Lyon’s 30 save performance and a great defensive showing, holding Colorado to one goal. 1st win vs Avs at LCA. 3rd Win in a row. 1st in the wild card. #lgrw

As far as I’m concerned, it was a three-way tie for first star – Kane for the winning goal, Larkin for the tying goal and pretty game-winning assist, and, of course, the Lyon King.

Not only are the Red Wings playing like they will be in the playoffs, I don’t think there are any of the top teams in the league that would want to play Detroit in the first round.
Chiarot activating on offense has been a huge difference maker.
I believe the "The team is worse with Kane" thing all started when we were shaky as a team, and simply not winning, back in December just after he was signed. What's mystifying though, is why that idea has lingered despite our record with him and how he's overall improved the team. I got laughed at when I told folks I knew that, if we signed Kane, he would bring scoring and leadership and help in a playoff push.
I'm still not sold on playoffs myself… but it looks more and more like we're definitely heading in that direction. Let's friggin' GO, boys!

Of course it’s easy to be optimistic today, but regardless of how the Red Wings perform these guys are always so energetic, and whether or not they believe it they always try to provide an optimistic view to keep us viewers hopeful! Patrick Kane is still one of the greatest players to play hockey imo I've always been a fan even when he played for Chicago and rangers unbelievable this guy is coming off major hip surgery like it's nothing this team can do something special and now lock showtime up

I actually hate how underrated Larkin is, I know I’m biased but I truly believe he’s one of if not the best player in the league. Nobody does more for their team than larks, he’s the emotional leader, leading point scorer, and plays in literally every situation and all he does is execute when he’s going 100%

13:37 okay Brian, let's squash this once and for all. I'm one of the guys who's been talking Shit on Kane on X and reddit. But sure, let's break it down, and I'll never post about it again, because it feels like talking to a brick wall.
From the start; yes… Those players were injured/suspended when Kane joined…for FOUR games, with the exception of Perron, they were back for the ducks game before Christmas. How did we do for the rest of the month? 2-5-0…
No, we weren't 5-0-1 in January when he got injured, we were 4-0-1, he got injured right at the start of the Leafs game, so that's a huge stretch. We were 5-2-1 while he was injured.
And since you're a stats guy, let's see the quality of competition on those two records; the 4-0-1 were the sharks, ducks, 2x kings and oilers… And we STRUGGLED against the first two… Kings were in a free fall. The oilers game was great though.
Do I even have to tell you the competition we faced while he was injured?? The Leafs? Panthers? Lightning? VGK?! nono, CLEARLY those are insignificant compared to the Kane wins…
When you say these things it feels like you're putting down the team, and that it's only noteworthy when Kane is in the lineup…
But let's go into some player stats, like how Kane performed in the 4-0-1 stretch. He had 1G 2A, 1A in the first kings game, the rest in the other kings game (Talbot disaster game). His shooting% was 5.6 with the most shots at 18, sooo, a whole lot of shots on the WORST teams, and little to show for it.
Speaking of opponents, where does he get those points? Let's see the quality of goalies he's scored on; Korpisalo? Yikes! Aforementioned Talbot dumpster fire, 1G and 1A against Brossoit that was impressive, 2G and 1A on Hart, meh, 1G on Vanecek who's right up there with Korpisalo, 1G on Gustavsson keeping us in the bottom 5th of the league goalies,
One assist on Binnington in a 6 goal game vs the blues, 2A on Dostal in the first ducks game we lost. 2A on Saros, hey he's ranked 1 higher than Husso in expected goals against… At 75th…
And that's it up until the injury.
But, you know, he possess the puck so much who cares right? Anything could happen! If we meet a lot of bottom 20 goalies in the playoffs, Kane's gonna be PIVOTAL to our success.
But you know what, whatever, maybe you'll see it some day, probably not. He's been looking really good after the injury, so maybe it's all changing now. I HOPE I'm wrong, and I want nothing more than the wings' success. But to tell us how dumb we are for actually looking into what he's done and who he's done it against makes you look so cocksure and superficial, and frankly, that's not how I've come to know you to be in the show. This is my favorite red wings podcast, and I catch every episode, I'll shut up now, and thank you for always making great content, even if we disagree on Kane 😂
