Vancouver Canucks: 4 years later, who won the Cory Schneider for Bo Horvat trade?

On June 30, 2013, Gary Bettman stunned hockey fans when he announced that the New Jersey Devils had traded their 9th overall pick in the NHL entry draft (being held in New Jersey) to the Vancouver Canucks for goaltender Cory Schneider.

  1. I think we still cant evaluate who won the trade, but so far its been equal. What the Devils got is a no1 goalie for a while, and if they can make it far in the postseason they may have the win. What the Canucks got is filling the desperate need for NHL centers, and Bo is a very good top6, potentially elite guy at that. As well we have a future captain in Bo, which means a lot more than most think.

  2. had the trade not happened and Lu been traded instead, right now our goalie tandem would have most likely be Schneider Eddie Lack, with Demko in the minors

  3. I think in a few more years we should start seeing the truth, but I still think it won't be much of a difference. Both teams got something they really needed.

  4. I still think we should have gotten a better pick for shnides but i love bo and i wouldn't trade him for anyone….well maybe mcdavid…. but i think at this point its a wash.

  5. I'm saying that it's a even trade. Both teams got what they needed, and they are both playing up to par for what they are expected to do.

  6. Corey Schneider, Taylor Hall, Nico Hischier, even Jesper Bratt will butcher some of their rookies.

  7. Its a trade that had to happen! no way schneider wanted to stay! especially after, well rumor has it that Kesler slept with his wife.

  8. Coming to this video, my assessment was that they pretty much broke even. It's nice to see that's the consensus here as well 🙂

  9. Was always thinking I’d rather still have Schnuu up until now. He can’t get a win these days. You’re right Bo is an important piece for us. EP could contend for future captain though.
