Was looking into the upcoming schedules for the Blues and Preds. They have a way easier schedule and are playing well. The Blues have a harder schedule and are still bipolar. It’s hard to see us staying above the Preds, but the Blues are weird. We could equally lose all our remaining games or win them.

It’s crazy the Caps have a game in hand, are tied with the devils, yet have a 30 percentage point less chance to make it than the Devils. The Math checks out to me I just don’t know how.

I like this model better than ESPN’s (which has us at like 35% and Tampa at 80%)

A 41.3% chance to make the playoffs by going… 16 – 8 – 2??
That’s hilarious. We’ve been a .500 team all season, there’s no way we pull our heads out of our asses enough to win .65 the rest of the season.

I have a sneaky suspicion the Pens will somehow pull it off. I don’t see them missing it again.

The Caps having less of a chance than the Pens and Isles is certainly a take.

As a Kings fan I’m pretty confident that we will make the playoffs. However I’m not so confident that we’ll actually make any noise despite having that expectation. It’ll be interesting to see what we do but I’ve got a feeling the Kings are gonna waste a season where they could’ve made a deep run

Beats me how the Caps are sitting with the same amount of points as the Devils, whipped us in the last game, and yet the Devils have a 30% higher chance of making the playoffs. I’m so tired of seeing analytics and stats that say the Devils are good. Some betting sites had us as favorites over the Rags yesterday!

Washington is in a very interesting No Man’s Land. They’re very much in reach for a playoff spot and with Ovi in his final years, you’re probably obligated to go for it.
But I think even Caps fans would agree with me they’re not good enough to justify trading futures at the deadline and I don’t think they want them to be buying at the deadline unless it’s to get younger.
The compelling asset is Dylan Strome. He’s 26 years old, on a reasonable $5 million contract and a lot of teams would love him as a center. His contract and years of control left would make him a very nice trade asset that could help with the inevitable rebuild.
Haven’t heard his name in trade rumours this season so I imagine they’re gonna go for it by standing pat and then depending on how next season goes, might look to trade him then.

Amazing.
Earlier this season it was looking like we weren’t making the playoffs and needed some record breaking shit to make it…
Now we don’t even need to win 50% of our remaining games to make it.

Yeah, can’t really argue with this. With how the knights have been playing lately, going at least .42 over the next 25 isn’t quite as solid as it was even a few weeks ago.
A bigger part of the VGK focus should be on this upcoming road trip and homer against Vancouver. The next 6 games will really tell us a lot about the rest of the season/playoffs and I think it’ll drive a lot of decision making in the front office as it relates to the deadline. If we really struggle bus our east coast tour, do we go big at the deadline and pay for some big guns, do we go small and just do minor tweaks to try and patch holes and hope the remainder of the season goes well enough to make an honest playoff push, or do we do nothing and just see where we end up with the plan being to re-assess in the summer?
No real reason to worry about making the playoffs IMO, but we really can’t lift off the gas as we round this last turn.
