The amount of times we’ve repeated “you can’t show up for the last 5 minutes (or 6.5 minutes) of the game” is absurd. This team does not believe in themselves.

  2. This was a metaphorically the end of the season. They’re too far back in the wildcard pack now. I think they’ll end up being last out of like 6 teams after today

  3. DrTurtles

I’m gonna be the Negative Nancy and say that I don’t feel any better just because they decided to actually play hockey for the last 5 minutes.

The past 2 games are the equivalent of waving the white flag. We are toast.

  4. SINY10306

TBL are a good team……..at least a *fraction* of reason for today’s result.

  5. We are now up to 24 games where the Isles have given up three (or more) straight goals. They move to 1-16-6 in those games and have blown a lead in ten of them.

  6. hosangtapejob

*goal scored on an empty net*

Islanders: Is it possible to learn this power?

  7. Lol betcha Lee Roy and whoever else they interview will be like “yeah thought we played real good hockey at the last MINUTE of the game, just gotta push next time”

  8. optional-email

Well it would have been nice if they had played three periods instead of just one

Not sure how you sell seats for a 60 minute hockey game if the team only plays 20 minutes

  9. AnotherRobotDinosaur

We outscored them 2-1 while playing without a goalie. Clearly, the solution going forward is to always play with the empty net.

  10. The_Dank_Tortuga

    Darn.

That would’ve been funny if we’d won.

  11. toblerownsky

Of all the games I’ve watched this season, that was certainly one.

    Pack it in, fellas.

  12. ianisms10

There are a lot of teams worse than the Islanders, but nobody in this league makes their fans more miserable than these fucking guys

  13. If only Tampa was as bad as the Islanders, then they would’ve coughed up that lead and we could’ve got another loser point.

  14. starscream568

Now 7 points behind Tampa… that game could’ve literally cost us the season

  15. JoeBenigno

The optics of this one is worse than just a single loss. When you’re desperate, losing to the team that bounced you from the playoffs two years in a row and basically cost you a cup makes it so much worse.

  16. Actual_Bluebird

Seriously, trade anyone outside of the top 6 if any interest is shown. And anyone who isn’t tradable, buy out the contracts and start signing FA’s with fire in their belly’s. I don’t want to watch “talented” players who don’t show up. Give me scrappers all day long.

  17. thewaxima

Keep: Barzal, Horvat, Dobson, Romanov, Sorokin

Trade if it’s a haul coming back: Nelson

Actively try to trade for whatever works out: Wahlstrom, Pageau

    Buyout: Lee

Let walk in free agency (or trade if anyone really wants to): Clutterbuck, Martin, Aho

    Try to re-sign: Reilly

Banish to the press box or AHL: Mayfield

And go ahead and listen to offers for anyone not listed who’s under contract or going into RFA.

  18. VinPickles

This team and management needs to face reality, the end is here

  19. HajdukNYM_NYI

Season was over after that Rangers collapse to me. This only cements it, no response from that game and we are one of the few teams who fired a coach mid season that didn’t get any bounce at all. Even Hynes has gotten the Wild back to contention ffs

  20. airflyer04

Season ended last Sunday after that moral breaking loss against the Rags

  21. Pack it in boys, the team already has. Nothing left to see here this season.

  22. dukemantee

Islanders elite roster, lock down defense and pair of 50 goal scorers really fueling this big winning streak they’re on. What a great time to be a fan.

  23. Apart from Sorokin, Bo, and Barzal, is anyone on this team really untouchable? If any other player gets traded my immediate thought is “bummer, who’d we get”
