As an Oilers fan I feel like we overpaid a tiny bit, however I think that Ken Holland should do anything in the next three years to win McDavid and Draisaitl a cup.
Man, this year makes me feel better about playing NHL GM mode. I'll send trades out near the dealine like crazy to get rid of non performing UFAs, late draft picks I don't want, and swapping Dman and Goalies like swingers in a TN bar. (I know alot of goalies haven't really been traded, but still)

This trade deadline just feels… Different… Like all these big name players that I expected to re-sign with their respective teams are getting traded, Toronto is making drastic changes, the Wild is just involved in just about every trade it seems, but most importantly it's seems like everyone (except Canes and Kraken) are going all in. These playoff pushed for positioning and wildcard snagging is going to be insane, let alone the playoffs in general.

Fun fact(not actually confirmed but must be), Tyson Barrie is only player in history, who scored most points as dman and didn't get single Norris throphy vote in 20-21 season.
I'm not sure about trading tyson barrie because he's one of my favourite players on the oilers

It's a very nice move but Edmonton won't be a serious contender until they get a goalie. Can't rely on Skinner and/or Campbell in the playoffs and survive.
as an oilers fan, i like the deal, getting a big defensive defenceman, sucks to see barrie go, as he was a fan favourite, everyone liked him in the locker room, and he helped quarterback the leagues top power play for the past few years
As a Oilers fan I'm a bit surprised when the oilers traded Barrie for Ekholm from the predators, I thought they would go after number 6 of the Coyotes (can't spell his name) but I'm happy the oilers got Ekholm he would do just well with the oilers but I do think the oilers traded a little to much to get Ekholm, I thought maybe Yammoto or Barrie to the predators and use there first round pick to try to get someone else on the blueline and maybe a bottom 6 forward but good trade for the oilers! LETS GO OILERS!!!
When it comes to what the Oilers need, Ekholm is a far better trade than Karlsson would've been. I'm going to miss Barrie but, it seems a good deal for both clubs.

Sucks to see Barrie go. Barrie has been great this season and he has one very underrated skill that makes him good especially on the PP: he's elite at stopping the puck from leaving the offensive zone. Hopefully Bouchard can emulate that.
Ekholm stats are no better then Barrie. Oilers needed to add to their defence so they go and get rid of a big piece of their defence and a prospect AND their draft picks and bring in a lesser known defence. I have never seen a trade that benefited the Oilers and this most definitely won't benefit them either. I now hope they won't make the playoffs

I just wanna say as a predators fan I am absolutely loving these trades. We are absolutely fleecing these teams on trades but everyone we've traded are absolutely needed for the teams we trade to. Its hard to say we're just straight up winners but everyone is winning with us. Bring on more trades. We have more players we can move and im looking towards that bright future thats coming
