Florida led 1-0 on a deflection goal from Nick Cousins in the second before being down 2-1 late in the third.
Carter Verhaeghe had his wrist shot tipped by captain Aleksander Sasha Barkov in front to tie the score at 2.
Gus Forsling won it in overtime off a nice pass from Sam Bennett.
Anthony Stolarz made 22 saves for the win as the Panthers have not allowed more than two goals in their past 13 games.
Florida is back home Tuesday against the Buffalo Sabres with Montreal in Sunrise on Thursday.
