Hilarious seeing the doomers back out after having to seethe for 10 straight. Nobody missed them.

  2. Global-Act-5281

Bruh. If the team wins the cup this year this will be forgotten lmao.

  3. Large_Squirrel1446

Tired team. Not surprised. Still disappointed though. Sorry Quick.

  4. the loss is whatever. can’t win them all, even against the bad teams. but there’s still plenty of questions that warrant answers:

    1. you’ve got a back-to-back, on the road, vs a bottom-feeder, and it’s your 3rd game in 4 days. your 5th game in 8 days. the team was noticeably gassed. how was *nobody* given a game off? [i called this out before the game](https://old.reddit.com/r/rangers/comments/1azpvci/game_thread_new_york_rangers_39163_at_columbus/ks3ped0/?context=3). is the plan to just have everyone play every single game the rest of the season, and then try to win the cup through the gauntlet that is the grueling 2-month playoff? winning streak or not, if there was ever a game to give somebody a night off, it was this one…
    2. NYR gave up 40+ shots for the 5th straight game. they have to, *have to*, try new D pairs. they’re high up enough in the standings and they know which pairs are their go-to pairs to where they can do some experimentation here.
    3. Laviolette also has to do some testing on lines as well. you need to have backups, especially in the playoffs, in the event of cold streaks or injuries. we already saw last year when Gallant refused to do this and then he was running line combinations he *hadn’t tried even once that year* in the final 3 games of a playoff series. it’s a bad idea. [gotta take a page from a recent cup-winning coach](https://twitter.com/runwriteAarif/status/1497435005789749249)

this isn’t the end of the world but we’re close to the playoffs and it’s time to start doing that actual playoff preparation: workload management, experimentation, etc.

the downvotes make *no* sense. what is untrue about any of these things. vally just went on a whole rant about how they are giving up a shit ton defensively even during this streak

  5. RedLegRey

It’s weird how they shit the bed with bad teams but play great against the amazing teams

  6. Grouchy-Power-806

This sub is unbearable sometimes. We lost one in our last 11, and suddenly we should start selling.

It was a bad game, would’ve been nice to break the record, but what does it matter. They’re going to lose some games the rest of the way.

  7. Krispyford

When we win like 6-1 on Wednesday, I expect you doomers to go back to the shadows

  8. RangerCool9446

if your instinct is to come here and say something bad about our team that just won 10 in a row PLEASE, for god sake, go for a walk or something.

  9. Active_Plant_2979

I ain’t mad. 4 games in 6 days and the boys were sleep walking. Also a back to back game. There was just 0 structure tonight.

  10. crazypants36

I don’t really care about the streak. At the end of the day, it’s meaningless. If they set it you say that’s nice and move on with your life. I’m more concerned about losing 1st place! But at least the Canes only gained one on us.

  11. mixtapemalibumusk

Its not even about the streak, its just why is that team like our kryptonite. Its so confusing.

  12. jkman61494

Other than Mika either refusing to shoot or shooting 14 feet wide I take 0 concerns out of the loss. Been a taxing week and they clearly looked shot.

It just stings losing the record against a crappy team

  13. Prof_Cha0s84

You know what we need on Wednesday to get us going… A REMPE FIGHT. (Just kidding, take a night off, kid.)

  14. was a good streak! cant win them all and id rather lose to columbus than pretty much any of the teams we beat in the last 7 days.

  15. basic_spud

Meh. Not a doomer. A team thats best off the rush is the rangers achilles heel this season it seems. They’ve got to stop giving up so many of pucks for easy rushes up ice, especially to teams that can capitalize.

  16. huskyferretguy1

I’m fine with the loss. We just won 10 games plus still on top of the Metro, and Igor is back to form. Can’t win them all.

Perhaps NHL should do less back to back games?

  17. impulse_thoughts

The loss this game (and the lucky win last game) showing us the Rangers are still capable of repeating last year’s playoff run. If the team is able to get routed by one of the worst teams in the league, they’re gonna get absolutely shut down when the competition gets tough in a playoff series and the opposing team can adjust their play and matchups to poke at the team’s weaknesses, exactly like the jekyll and hyde team of last year.

  18. SilentSaidd

Ultimately it sucks to lose but this team just won 10 straight and they were going to lose again at some point. Sucks they couldn’t get 11 but CBJ played hard from the jump and rangers just looked exhausted from the first shift, on a back to back after playing every other day since the stadium series and CBJ was well rested.

  19. That game was a good rejoinder to a weird opinion I’ve been seeing around lately that the Rangers are fine as is and don’t need to do anything at the deadline.

They don’t have a RW1, and Brodz at C3 is, um, fine, but far from ideal.

They shouldn’t shoot for the moon on that C3 position, but the RW one, yes. It’s going to be important.

  20. Feisty-Fill4304

Lmao I was telling my dad last night “of course we mop the last few teams, but when we play a terrible team that’ll account for a record high winning streak we’ll lose”. Whatevs

  21. This was the perfect trap game. Chalk it off as one of those games and move on. Doesn’t count.

  22. I recorded this game. And I accidentally saw they lost just now. I’m paused at 11 min left in the 2nd. Is it worth watching the rest?

  23. Klipsch89

Jackets fans (the whole 5 of them) are on cloud 9 tonight, let ’em have it because it’s likely one of very few wins they’ll see the rest of the season.

  24. Feisty-Fill4304

Weirdly odd note. Columbus has been trying to say they are rivals of the Rangers for years now, so when we play them they play like its equivalent to Rangers-Devils/Islanders. Meanwhile the Rangers are like “who the fuck are you?”

  25. cherrnoble

Very frustrating to watch, especially with the franchise record on the line tonight, but there are FAR worse games to lose. It happens. Let’s brush this one off and come back ready to go on Wednesday.

  26. EyeCloser

I can finally start watching again now that they’ve lost. But I really wanted 11 in a row.

  27. Not upset, we just won 10 in a row so we can’t complain too much even tho we lost to Columbus.

However, Mika and Kreider need to be split, put cuylle up there instead of Kreider and let’s see what happens. Those two suck 5v5 and having them together hurts. Rempe and edstrom have the same amount of 5v5 goals since December as Mika.

  28. Elsewhere_Not_Here

Fire everyone. Send Drury to prison. Completely swap the team with Hartford.

But seriously, one loss after a 10 game heater isn’t something to doom about, and I love me some dooming. Get a grip here folks.

  29. sentry_87

Just had to be a back to back for our franchise win record game…

  30. DropAGearNDissapear

Saw this coming from a mile away. They couldn’t keep it up forever especially after such a big test yesterday. Onto Wednesday.

  31. Horror-Dependent-645

Rangers have 81 points. I’m not angry.

Losses suck, but this team is good.

  32. 8teamparlay

Anyone legitimately dooming is insane. It’s fine to be upset about the way they played obviously but this game isn’t indicative of anything other than them being exhausted. Regroup and crush them Wednesday. Mika was fuckin awful tonight tho hahaha jeez.

And now for the downvotes: that Kane goal was sick, he’s playing great and at 2.5m he would’ve been a good fit here.

  33. Electronic-South2085

Fatigue finally set in. It’s not a big deal. 5 games in 7 days— especially rivalries, away back to backs and big emotional wins— will catch up with you eventually. Whatever

  34. iceturtles

Can’t win em all but I’m glad we finally get a break w only 2 games this week. Everyone looks tired af

  35. Wesley__Willis

Tonight was the ass end of an absurd week of hockey that *started* with an outdoor stadium game. Getting mad that your favorite hockey team didn’t win their 11th in a row, especially considering the aforementioned context, is nutty. I have zero doubt that they nuke the BJs on Wednesday after getting some much needed and well-deserved rest.
