Buffalo Sabres Recognize WEDI As Hometown Hero | West Side Bazaar, Downtown Bazaar
So wedi is Westminster Economic Development initiative we have two primary programs we have Economic Development and education so we do small business lending and we also work with English language Learners in the community and I think we’re probably most known for the Westside Bazaar so the Westside Bazar is a small
Business incubator in the west side of Buffalo over on Niagara Street we also have the downtown Bazaar which is over by Shay on Main Street and it is a place for small businesses to get their start So currently we have 13 different restaurants and about seven different retail stores and even a wine
And beer bar and when you come to the bizaar you find food from all over the world it’s an awesome place for people to come try out different cultures and also feel some camaraderie there’s something about the bizar that brings people together so the overall mission of wedi
Is to bring Equity to our entire community so we work with the business owners not only to get the capital they need to start or expand their business but we also provide them the support to learn how to run their business to the best of their ability they going home
Saying mama you got to eat some of this food we’ve also been very lucky to have generous support from the Sabers Foundation we’ve used that support in our after school programs to be able to do things like take kids on different field trips around the city and make
Sure that we have the best books for our kids to read with that are culturally appropriate so the Sabers have been very generous to us and it’s really wonderful to see that come into practice and see that collaboration between community and for a lot of our kids some of their
Heroes see them care and help them out is really really neat
