It’s a shame this game wasn’t on ESPN+. I was so excited about watching it only to find it wasn’t viewable in my area.

Man, watching the clip of him watching the tribute video on the jumbotron, standing on the ice resting his face on his hands, Kane looked so…small. He just looked so humbled by the response and the career he was able to have, and you could tell it meant the world to him to be there in that moment. I think I love Patrick Kane now, and not just because he’s a killer hockey player. I could be reading way too much into a three minute video, but he seems to really understand just how amazing it is to be able to have done what he’s done. Very cool to see.
And I love how absolutely fired up the Wings were to see him get that appreciation from the crowd. Mo was gassing him up so much as they skated off the ice. I hope he was imagining himself getting to see his own highlight reel for 1000+ games and a HOF career in the Winged Wheel.
