I’d like to keep one of Dowd/NAK at least but if the market is high let’s get as much as we can
cmaxwe
NAK was on waivers earlier this year.
Doubt there is a lot of market for him.
alejandrowoodman
Caps better not trade Lindgren
I’d miss Dowd, and current Mantha as well.
GoodieLikesChicken
DO NOT TRADE CHARLIE LINDGREN!
BallsMahogany_redux
I’d love to trade all of them minus Lindgren.
cmaxwe
Trade them all.
None of them would be productive/on the team by the time the Caps are competitive again.
Keeping them and getting no future value is terrible asset management and just extends the time that the Caps are in the bottom third of the league.
Big_Daddy_Herbie
Trade everyone except Lindgren. Fire sale boys
fuzzypyrocat
If they trade my boy Charlie, I’m going to riot
rowejl222
We might have to rebuild soon
BoofWellington69
Dowd and NAK or edmundson to Edmonton for a 1st and broberg. Mantha retained to Vancouver for Podkolzin and a pick. That’s what I would try to do 🙂
bigatrop
I will lose my shit if they trade Lindgren. You hold on to keepers like him. But if they do trade him, it better be for a wild value.
mark_dink
keep chuck, everyone else im on board with moving. NAK and current Mantha would be tough for me, but i can live with it if the return is appropriate.
SandwichNamedJacob
I’d be fine with losing everyone but Lindgren and Dowd.
DCdeer
Trade Mantha for sure. His value is as high as it will ever be.
killadrilla480
How much for outlaw/folk hero Charlie lindgren? I’d take a first rounder
Joshottas
If Chucky can net u a 1st, move him. No one on this current roster aside from 8/43/42 should be off limits.
Danny__L
I don’t get the obsession here with keeping Lindgren. Sell high on him. He’s already 30 and we need to rebuild. He’s not even a legitimate starter and can be replaced with a prospect the organization can develop for the future.
They need to get as much value back as they can this trade deadline. We shouldn’t even be thinking about the playoffs for at least another 2-3 seasons.
All 6 of those guys are not essential to keep around during the rebuild.
pitapizza
If they get good value for Charlie absolutely they should trade him, i doubt he’s here at the end of 2025 anyway with Clay Stevenson on the rise. And We are stuck with Kuemper anyway
But really fine keeping him if the value isn’t there for us. We don’t have to move him
balloonman_magee
Lindgren better f’n stay. But I’d be fine with the others. Dowd will hurt. And Mantha has had a great season but too inconsistent I’ve always known he had what it took to be good just seemed lazy. Was fun having Pacioretty but if he goes he goes need someone young.
SatchBoogie1
I feel certain Edmundson will be the first player traded. Easy contract to trade or retain a % on. A contender would welcome defensive depth.
Pacioretty has a NMC and needs to approve any deal the Caps include him on. Otherwise, he would be a depth option for a team.
Mantha will need to be retained on, unless we take another contract back. Like a deal intended for a change of scenery between mediocre players. Honestly, anything is better than nothing. Hoping his recent play makes teams want him while he’s performing rather than looking at his past.
Dowd still has term and a reasonable contract, but do we really need to trade him? There is more value to him being signed next year.
NAK would just be for depth, but if we think a Hershey player or another waiver wire player can fill the void then it may be worth trading him.
Lindgren is new to me as a trade target. I don’t like the idea of trading him, but this one would be interesting to see what value we could get. He is definitely in the mold of Lyon or Stolarz where he can steal some wins while being signed to a reasonable price. Not many teams can afford Markstrom, Saros, Gibson and others on the goalie rumor carousel. Minnesota has already said Fleury is not available, so that makes the price for Lindgren a slightly higher premium with fewer options available. New Jersey and Carolina have had goalie issues in some capacity this season. It would take an overpayment to trade within the division. Toronto and LA are possible targets too.

My concerns with trading Outlaw is that I don’t know if either Shepard is NHL material or Stevenson (a.k.a. Mud) is ready for a full-time NHL gig.
Out of the rest the only one I don’t want to see leave is Dowd.
Legal_Investment_305
Why are people obsessed with keeping Lindgren? He only looks good in comparison because Kuemper is so ass.
Trade them all.
KoolDiscoDan
Not much to discuss here.
They are all reasonable to move with the right return.
InfallibleBackstairs
They can all go except Chucky.
coltonjeffs
Week one of the fantasy hockey playoffs washington plays all the off days. I now have both goalies and have no idea which one will be playing…any insight? Lindgren gas played more recently, but he just got lit up for 8 on the back to back.
Also, if you haven’t been following the Hershey Bears at all, do yourself a favor and [take a look at what Clay Stevenson is doing to that league.](https://www.eliteprospects.com/league/ahl/stats/2023-2024#goalies) He needs to be getting NHL playing time next year, and it’ll be a lot easier to open a spot by moving Lindgren than by moving Kuemper.

Mantha on a contract year is dangerous, Mantha every other year? We should only keep Mantha if we can sign him 1 year at a time, which is unlikely
YourWeekendDad
I’m fine with everyone finding a new home. As much as I’m sure we all have an allegiance to half of the list if not more, the current roster doesn’t contend for a Cup(or even make playoffs) and we should all realize that, as fans. Hopefully the return yields players that we can get behind down the line during the inevitable rebuilding/”re-tooling” process.
I’d rather see the kids/ahl lifers finish out the year or play for jobs in the future, then get sent back to Hershey for AHL Playoffs instead of hold onto guys that could help someone else’s fanbase get to experience a fun Cup Run.

This article is too early. If the Caps lose Friday, I expect a huge sell off, however there is still a path to playoffs right now no matter how tight.
GMBM isn’t going to sell until that path closes.
_SCHULTZY_
I think Jensen or TVR could be on that list if the price is right. Not both, but one of them.
Alexeyev either needs to play or be sold. He’s too valuable to be in the doghouse and not getting experience.
I like Lindgren but when you look at his value vs the market vs the contract situation with him, Kuemper and Stevenson – he has to be moved.
Dowd being moved opens up a spot for a young guy next year which we desperately need. He’s been great for us but it’s time and he’s never going to be more valuable than here.
Caps could come out of this deadline with a pair of 1sts and a pair of 2nds + some extras. That means the ability to take more chances at finding our future 1C and 1D or moving up in the Draft and getting that cornerstone.

Is the love for Chucky in this thread a subreddit meme that’s going over my head? People here do know that he’s a 30 year old career journeyman and [he’s been one of the worst goalies in the league since the new year](https://www.nhl.com/stats/goalies?reportType=game&dateFrom=2024-01-01&dateTo=2024-02-29&gameType=2&filter=gamesPlayed,gte,10&sort=a_savePct&page=0&pageSize=50), right? He’s cool with the mustache and everything and the hot stretch in Nov-Dec was fun, but if a team offers a pick in the top half of the draft for him you take that and run.
