Right in front of the fucking zebra too and he just ignores it.

Can’t call the obvious penalty in OT. Could ruin the outcome.

*proceeds to call an obvious penalty on Tampa*

  3. The Sabres defended it by saying he wasn’t involved in the play. So apparently we can have an extra guy just skating randomly around as long as he doesnt get involved…

If you have played hockey usually there is a grace period. So that the fact that it was only for a sec is why it wasn’t called. If it was literally another one or two secs it would’ve been called

This shit happens all the time. If the extra skater isn’t involved in the play in any way, 90% of the time the refs won’t call it. Especially in OT. The Lightning do this more than they don’t so I don’t see anything wrong with the no call.

He wasnt involved in the play, ie never touched the puck.

  7. Unfortunately this rule is subject to officials discretion to some degree. I’m more mad at the 3 penalties by our guys to round out the game. Effing infuriating.

I hate the refs, I need the team to complain about this complete nonsense, I want the refs fired.

The referees are only required to call it if the puck is played. If the puck isn’t played the rule book says a penalty “may be assessed” at the referees discretion. So while a call could have been made there it’s not an egregious no call that one wasnt made.

Had no impact on the play. It’d be impossible to call too many men penalties just for players not changing at exact same moment

I have no skin in the game since I don’t support either team – this is never a penalty. Not in 5 on 5, not in 3 on 3, not in beer league, not in the NHL. Too many men is only called if the extra player touches the puck or gets involved in the play on some way. Almost every line change you see in the big boy league involves people jumping over the boards before the stragglers get off. If they don’t touch the puck before everyone is off – no harm, no foul. Same principle at work here – yes there is an extra body, but he realizes the guy he thought he was replacing is not coming back, so he scoots off. The right number of guys are now on the ice before contact is made.

Good no call. They didn’t have possession of the puck and made no disruption in play.

Isn’t the rule that an extra man can be in the ice if they are within 5 ft/m of the bench and not part of the play…..?

It wasn’t called because he never involved himself in the play. It was a mistake, he thought his guy was coming off and he immediately left the ice.
