  1. I feel like the predators are similar to the islanders a bit. 2 or 3 GREAT players and a bunch of meh players being made to look better by top-tier goaltending.

  2. Adam’s take on their top line comparing it to the Leaf’s is laughable. Not every team wins the draft lottery and is allowed to pick a generational talent to build around.

Any team that has a player that is always in the discussion for the Norris and a goalie who is always in the discussion for the Vezina is going to compete for the playoffs and management should expect that.

  3. IMO – you can't reward a team for playing crappy.

Adem's comparison is to Leaf's just shows how "spoiled" the group has become (and probably some Leaf's fans) having the elite talent at the top of the roster. The Leaf's have 3 forwards on their current roster who are better than ANY forward ever drafted by Predators. The Preds NEVER took the scorched earth rebuild plan which the Leaf's did and ended up with AM/MM at the top of the draft.

  4. Jesus christ adam makes the pod completely unlistenable sometimes. The preds are rebuilding, barry trotz hasn’t built anything he just got there. Nobody said they are expecting to make the playoffs, literally just pulled that out of his ass. This dude is insufferable sometimes.

  5. I don’t think Preds fans would have cared if the team went to concert. We were kinda happy they looked good in December, nobody really had any expectations.

  6. The whole attitude of "you can't reward bad performance" only sounds good in your head, but it's never as effective as you want it to be. Adam's right: don't punish your players; encourage them. I'm not saying you take your team to Disneyland after every loss to try to boost their spirits, but human beings always have and always will respond vastly more favourably to positive reinforcement rather than negative reinforcement.

  7. My main problem with Adam's line of thinking here is that it's not the beginning of the season anymore, we have seen what this team is capable of doing and while they won't win every night, they can at least compete with and cause problems to a lot of teams in the NHL. So expectations have shifted and there's at least a level of competent play they have to maintain. Even early on at their most inconsistent, they manage to stay in a lot of games and not lose by much. Now sure, they had only lost two games in a row there, but those games included a blown two goal lead against the Devils and a massive blowout at home vs. the Stars. Worrying loses to say the least. Add to that the fact that the team was already starting to slow down dangerously before the all-star break, and the management's decision to strike down hard on the players becomes a bit more understantable. A reaction was needed and so far, it has come.

Also, Nyquist in currently on pace for 62 points, which would be his best point total ever, and has been an excellent fit with O'Reilly and Forsberg, so maybe check the guy's stats before spitting on him.
