  1. I drove past Waimea yesterday… it looks like it’s about full. And it’s raining today.. so I’d assumed this is actually happening today 😅

  2. Awesome to see the surf school enabling the kids from North Dakota to battle for best wave at Turtle Bay! 🤩❤

  3. Those kids from North Dakota will be talking about the JOB experience forever. What a treat, surfing with the legend, JOB. Good stuff, Jamie. Thanks for sharing.

  4. can't believe this surfer is destroying multiple ecosystems just to fuel his sick addiction to psyching

  5. I think we have yet another family leaving North Dakota for the big island Thanks for sharing as always my friend Be well 👍🤙

  6. Jamies control when the wave is just chaos is so impressive. ❤️🏄‍♂️🤙 JOB Surf school = 🔥 Big love to Seven who showed this 50 year old how to get back in the water after 25 years. I brought my 3 daughters who had never surfed before. They gave them some basics and my girls TOOK OFF first try! They still talk about it to this day as one of the funniest times ever! ❤

  7. Why do you say “destroy a beach”? It’s just a natural process that recovers and it’s fun to be a part of. Lucky you J.oB

  8. If I was an alien from a different planet, who came to Earth for the first time. and saw human beings doing this… I would be psyched!

  9. That's was still an awesome rare event ,Mahalo for capturing it for your viewers ,you you lucky bugga got to ride it

  10. I believe that this is a river wave. For those who are unaware (I had to look it up myself) a river wave is a natural phenomenon where the ocean builds up enough pressure that it connects with nearby rivers and streams. This is very rare however, and is actually illegal if you’re digging it out yourself because it does not correlate with the way that the aquatic ecosystem functions. The sole purpose for river waves is deposit silt, and minerals which creates sand banks. Those who are saying, “they are just speeding up the process” are wrong. Sandbanks take between 100-1000 years to form naturally. This needs to end, by doing this you are destroying the natural flow of the water. This disrupts the habitat of aquatic animals and plants that are vulnerable to extreme, unnatural changes between quick unadaptable periods of time. If created in areas where species are already endangered, such as the Leatherback sea turtle you are putting their extinction at risk. These turtles lay their eggs on the beaches, raising the possibility of a river wave being dug where eggs are buried. While constructing these river waves for your mere enjoyment you’re putting the lives of critically endangered species at jeopardy. Furthermore, not only are you damaging the ecosystem, but you are putting a threat on the lives of others, and yourself. Rivers are much more powerful than one may expect. Without the proper equipment, training and appropriate location surfing in man made river waves such as these can result in serious injury or death. Next time that you consider creating another river wave, know that the ecosystem around you is suffering enough. We don’t need anymore added impact. Thank you.

  11. Yo Jamie love the river surf. Hoping you can answer my questions. 1. How long does it take to get the beach back to holding back the river again? (Timelapse would be sick to see the days to follow.) 2. How long can you guys actually surf on the river swell? Looks like about 30min but maybe its longer?
