5 Years Ago Today: Tavares’ Return To Long Island

5 years. Crazy.

[Highlights](https://youtu.be/sXdIouyDkaA)

[All Chants](https://youtu.be/R0L3F5bwV7I)

Across almost 80 games, this still remains the best one I’ve ever seen. Blowing them out was one thing, but I still remember the crowd so vividly. The chants were just special.

The energy in and around the coli that night was unmatched

  2. Not__Even_Once

One of the most involved, loudest crowds I’d ever seen at the Coliseum, and I’ve seen many great moments there. Remember also that the game was originally scheduled to be played at Barclays, and Lou announced the game would be played at the Coliseum instead.

  3. Man if the crowd could bring this level of energy every night we’d be unstoppable. The team feeds on it

  4. Still my all time favorite sporting event I’ve been to. Got a ticket plan that year just to make sure I had tix to that game. The parking lot hijinx alone was something to behold

Despite the fact that I had no way of getting there (was in college and didn’t have a car), still one of the only games I regret not being at

A day of absolute debauchery, most fun I’ve ever had at any sporting event. Still have the warmup puck on my desk that my wife snagged.

Might be the greatest regular season game outside of the dynasty era. Underdogs who really shocked everybody. God I miss the Barry era.

Has Tavares ever addressed the chants from that night?

  10. I was there…..I’m going to be honest that the fans went “slightly” overboard (you can’t throw shit at the guy) but other than that it was one of the craziest games I’ve been to….and I was there when Bossy scored his 50 in 50, at “The Comeback” and many other crazy games.

I live in Europe, so this game was in the middle of the night and I had to work the next morning, but I just couldn’t stop watching. I was dead but very happy the next day. Legendary game. Everyone knew what was going to happen that night, but it was even better than expected. It just never went quiet.

  12. Top 2 sporting events I’ve been to, the other being the Mets combined no hitter, and the Barn hit SO much harder

If we had traded him, we would have won at least one cup with what we would have gotten in return. That and our farm system might not be dead last in the league.
