  1. Big Stars fan. I'm super pumped that they were able to hang onto their two 1sts. The retention is an extra sweet bonus, because I wouldn't be shocked if Dallas also got in on Walker or a MIddle 6 forward if they're worried about Seguin or Dadanov missing time into the playoffs. While I agree they are going to go with Harley and Heiskanen as top pair, I wouldn't mind them experimenting with Lindell and Heiskanen and then Harley and Tanev. That would allow their two offensive defensemen to more freely enter the zone as they would have shutdown partners on the back end.

  2. Tanev is 34 and plays a punishing role, even if he does resign with dallas, he probably only has a year or two left. Not quite a first, but two seconds and a potential third is about as close as you can get. Maybe shouldve held out for a better prospect, but its alright I'd say

  3. There are reports that its win the cup, but Conroy said that it's if the stars make the finals. Just wanted to let you know

  4. I knew going in that we were never getting a 1st for Tanev… Yes he is a fantastic shut down top 4 d man, but he's on a 1 year deal making 4.5mil and has been shaky injury wise.. The idea of a 1st is always intriguing but I feel like every fanbase that goes into a rebuild assumes they can deal every piece away and automatically get a 1st for each player. The fact that CGY got a 2nd, a prospect AND an additional piece for a 34 year old defenseman in my opinion is a great deal. Conroy has gotten several offensive defensive prospects so getting a guy like Grushnikov who can play those shut down minutes is a great pickup. Kudos to Dallas for getting him at 75% retained though.. That's the only part of the deal I don't like. But all and all I think it's a lot better than some fans are making it out to be. I'm now excited to see what we can get for Hanifin & potentially Markstrom.

  5. I think people might be under valuing Grushnikov. Conroy wanted him for a reason.

Its also funny how people start grading trades immediately after theyre made on who lost/won, when it takes at least a few years if not more to see how it works out.

  6. Max salary retention is 50% within the CBA. The Devils are paying 25% of the retained salary, Calgary is paying the other 25%.

  7. With all due respect to Tanev, if HE is considered "one of the biggest names" for trade deadline this season, HOLY SHIT this trade deadline is going to suck lmao
Overpay for Dallas IMO but at least half the salary is retained so thats not bad overall

  8. The floodgates have opened.

Good deal for Dallas. Potential win win, depending on how Artem G. turns out. I wish him all the best with the Flames.

Quick correction: I think DAL has to get to the cup finals, not win the cup. At least that was what hockey guy reported.

  9. Stars fan here. The Stars really needed help on D and Tanev fits that bill. But what they really needed for a playoff run is TOUGHNESS, which Tanev brings in spades.

Great trade, Nil has done it again.
