Jake DeBrusk is awesome with a +58. On 2nd thought I am glad we didn't get Tanev because he scores very few points. Dowd doesn't have enough umph!
I don't think is the Oilers' offer (1st and Ceci) because Calgary would jump on that. Ceci is not much of a downgrade of Tanev and he has one more year of manageable cap hit. Ceci will do well if he is playing 2nd pair.
I think the Oilers need bottom-six Centers rather than scoring wingers.
Henrique and Carrick have horrible plus minus. Forget them.
Ceci at 3.25M is not the problem at the 2nd pair D, Nurse is. Why Nurse still needs a babysitter at 9.25M? He is supposed to look after his partner just like Ekholm takes care of Bouchard. Oilers should trade Nurse for an offense D so the Oilers would have some offense in the 2nd pair. Trade Nurse for Chychrun + Tarasenko, a perfect deal for the Oilers.
Watching our D play last night, it was obvious we will not win a cup without some serious upgrades. Huge struggles getting puck out of zone

Hope Buchneviceh gets traded to EDM but Debrusk would be another name to keep an šout there. Carrier, Novak, Trein would be excellent pieces for blueline/Bottom six. Other Targets like Duclair, Vatrano, Tarasenko, & Sprong let's just watch those guys

If the Oilers donāt move out Nurseās contract during this coming off-season, there is no cap to make up grades, and no cap to resign #29 and Bouchard. Maybe the Oilers should just trade Nurse by this 3/8 deadline to make upgrades to be a true contender.

Buchnevich is under team control and is a legit top 6 forward who can play both Center and the wing. This is the type of trade Hollander needs to make to improve the club, no lateral move nonsense. Very happy Tanev is off the board, was concerned the oilers were going to toss away a first on him
Debrusk would be a great addition. This will be an interesting trade deadline. Cap hit the biggest issue. Could Holland be lucky enough to make a great deal like Hymanās addition? One can dream . Thanks for the update

Dallas offered a D prospect (so baes salary) and two 2nd round picks. So it looks like Calgary was happy to dump Tanevās salary, we had no shot at sending money back as we need to do. Dowdās stats donāt look to interesting 8-8 for 16 points? Thatās not bolstering the top six. Same thing for Carrick, makes no sense stats wise. I would like Debrusk but 4 million for 27 points, what is this world coming to! I think he would be a great addition if he can get back to the last two years levels. We need to do something and soon before all the good players are not available anymore.
I still think we need a better backup Goalie. One that has playoff experience, like Jake Allen. Asking price wonāt be anywhere near what the Preds will want for Jusi Saros.
Since the Oilers are near the top in scoring in the NHL, I would like to think that an upgrade on D would have higher priority than a Forward, but who knows. Itās always nice to have lots of offense, but itās great Team D & Goaltending that wins Cups.
Iād dump Nurse before Ceciā¦.may be an unpopular opinion but his contract dollars are badly needed elsewhere.
I liked Yaremchukās Washington Capitals one-stop trade idea. They can take Ryan, Kane, McLeod, Foegele afaic.
I think DeBrusk will be the best choice as DeBrusk would be the best chance at having a player to stay in Edmonton since he is from here and of course has family including his Pa, Louie already tied to the organization.
Brown is -10. 715th in scoring. 0 hits. Trade this guy already if you want a roster that can win the cup. Carry him if you feel sorry for him but don't whine when you don't win the cup. We need forwards that are committed to playing in their own end of the ice. And if you think Brown has value. Just buy a pylon it is cheaper. Oh by the way 2 goalies have scored more goals than him.

TBH If Oilers don't get a 1A goalie, they will fall short once again. Skinner hasn't been that good even during the win streak. Yes he claimed Edmonton's goalie winning streak but that was with a defense that was performing well with 2/22 PK in the month of January. Even with that great streak Skinner only reached a max of .917 over that winning streak. and an average of 2.5 GA. Don't really have much options though as Saros and Fleury do not wanna leave their teams this season. And those are the only 2 goalies worth mentioning on the market this season. Unless either Skinner or Pickard suddenly improve their game, I doubt the Oilers make it past the 3rd round. I'm a huge Oilers Fan but we have some big issues needing addressed. We need to change some players up. First off, Trade these players off:
Bouchard – yeah he has a wicked slapper and can snipe it just where he wants it sometimes, but his decision making when trying to hold onto the puck at the blue line when being challenged, is very poor which (more often than not) results in the puck being turned over creating so many 2 on 1's going the other way.
Draisaitl – Yes, he has a strong leadership role, can start a strong rush into the oppositions zone and has a wicked 1 timer resulting in many goals but keep this into consideration. In approx 75% of the games whenever the opposition gets under the skin of the Oilers, Draisaitl is among the top 3 players to take a stupid penalty which with our lackluster PK lately resulted in more often than not a goal for the opposition. He also has a very high percentage of time holds on to the puck for too long and gets it stripped away from him and usually Leon is at or near the blue line and all but 1 of our defenseman are deeper into the opponents zone which leads to breakaway's or 2 or 3 on 1's. (Oilers always cycle around where 3 players are in the corners or in front of the net when the current puck possessor is near the blue line which is a great strategy as long as they retain possession and take a shot on net or pass to someone open. Not a good strategy if the player loses control of the puck!
Pickard – Actually I can't say anything bad about Pickard except the role he is currently playing. Having Skinner as 1a and Pickard as 1b and Rodrigue as 1c is like having our top offense line like RNH, Kane and Ryan. Yes, all are decent players but we need a Goalie that is consistent like Hyman, Foegle or a generational player like McDavid! If our defense can't hold it together after a 1 week all star break, how TF can they keep it together with a mind numbing Playoff grind where every player in the game is willing to break a finger, just to draw a penalty. Kane's got to bite his lip a lot harder than he did last game to draw a penalty!
Did you notice I never mentioned Draisaitl as a consistent comparison above? That's because if Draisaitl was a goalie, he would be ejected more games than not! That man has so much heart but Gosh Darn! You could practically make a drinking game out of his Stupid penalty counters each game! He gets suckered into doing something stupid so often it's hurting us!
