Mark Stone replacement?

Wouldn’t hate Buchnevich. Under contract next year too [https://bvmsports.com/2024/02/27/pavel-buchnevich-on-trade-block-5-possible-landing-spots/](https://bvmsports.com/2024/02/27/pavel-buchnevich-on-trade-block-5-possible-landing-spots/)

ESPN mock-traded us getting him, but at a **GODAWFUL** price.

    Brisson, Cormier, 2024 1st, & 2025 2nd for him…

    #FUCK. NO.

I’d simultaneously LOVE Buchnevich, but also think he may not be what this team needs.

Why I’d love him on the team. For starters, he’d fit this team well. Gritty, two-way forward. Also pretty good at driving play, which could take pressure off Eichel, who seems to be the only play driver on many nights. Upgrade over Barbashev, which in no way is an insult to Barbie. He also sounds like he’s an intense competitor on the ice, but a pretty good locker room guy as well. He’s also cheap relative to his position, capable of playing both sides.

That being said, I’m not totally sure he fixes any of the issues. First and foremost, he’s not a shooter. He has a good shot, but he’s more of a net front guy. Not necessarily a bad thing, but it seems like most goal scorers on this team score from in tight. He is also injury prone, averaging about 2 injuries a season, and has never been able to play all 82 games in a season.

I’d prefer to have Marchessault be our new captain if we resign him.

    Replacement?

Strong word there, don’t think I’m here for it.

I think vegas could use a tarasenko like player but they’ll definitely go after guentzel or zegras if he’s actually available.

    That always do.

I think getting someone like kubalik that can play on the 3rd/2nd line is necessary and then they’ll go after a big fish.
