Apparently he’s not a great forward but he’s an enforcer. Probably just a 4th liner. Guess he slides in for Nosek or Tierney. A whatever trade.

Edit: so apparently he plays both LW and LD. Hopefully he stays on the 4th line. I imagine we slide him in for Bastian/Nosek/Tierney.

  2. Im probably the only person sad Zakhar Bardakov was traded. I liked his game for the bottom 6

Weekes and Rupp are on NHL Network right now absolutely loving this for us.

  4. I like it, the team lacks size and toughness and that’s pretty much his MO.

  5. FreshLeftenant

He’s mostly a pylon, averaging 5:05 TOI this year, but we all know why he’s coming into the team. Hopefully he’s able to cause a little bit of havoc and make players think twice before taking runs at our stars. This team desperately needs a talented PWF tho.

Pure enforcer. Fitzy wants a revenge against the Rags

  7. Junior-Box-6730

The only thing I know about this guy is he grew up 15 minutes from where I did and he brought the cup home after not playing at all in the playoffs lol. Welcome aboard Kurt

  8. StoneCold316DTA

About fucking time we addressed the lack of toughness.

  9. Mike Rupp on NHL Network: “Kurtis MacDermid is the toughest, baddest man in the NHL. Without a doubt.”

    That seems good?

I get that the NHL Is about speed and shit but bro we get executed every rivalry game, I’m not gonna complain about losing a 7th rounder and a DoorDash driver

  11. devils744

Now Lindy has a great reason to healthy scratch Holtz lol

  12. messwithsquatch90

I’m gonna miss him on the Avs. He’s not all that useful on the ice, but even just watching him eyeball someone stepping out of line is awesome. Watching him lay a beat down is even better

This is a welcome addition to me after that Rangers game where the Devils were manhandled.

  14. He’s 29 and has 30 career points. Career best season was 8 in 2020.

Edit: For comparison, Reaves’s best season was 20 points. Deslauriers was 15. Oliwa managed 16 points in the middle of the dead puck era. This guy is bad even by “not very good enforcer” standards.

Had to google him…big dude, scores at the same rate as Brendan Smith, lots of career penalty minutes. I hope he’s the physical deterrent we are missing.

6’5”, 235 lbs. I don’t care if he plays 3 minutes per game, we need somebody like him available.

  17. DevilJacket2000

He will probably play in LA. What King is he going to try and beat up first shift?

I for one am looking forward to MacDermid v Kempe I – a bout for the ages and many
    more to come.

  19. nsfwITGUY19

Not really sure who he was before this but I love seeing what he’s about. A physical checker. Exactly what we need

  20. jimmycap123

I love it,Fitz finally gets some protection for Jack

  21. ScottyKNJ

Gross, well at least those who preach ” WE NEED AN ENFORCER TO PROTECT JACK ” will get shut up soon when they realize this does nothing

  22. jerseygunz

    Raise the god damn banner!

Seriously we need someone that can kick some ass

  23. jimmycap123

This move should’ve been made the day after Tkachuk and the Panthers abused Nico for the entire game for what they thought was a cheap shot on Barkov

  24. IntrepidBandicoot757

All you idiots saying this is stupid are the stupid ones, we got him for dirt cheap and from what I hear he’s a great defenseman and he’s a physical presence. He’s cheap and has experience and is a cup winner, this is a win win. So many casuals in this sub, so annoying 😂

  25. Batfleck666

Needed. Especially after the embarrassing team reaction to the Bastian hits in the Rangers game.

  26. youreABitcz

Sounds like an Oliwa type, and anyone who remembers Oliwa (sorry kids) knows that this is a plus for maintaining order on the ice. Happy to see it.

  27. PumpkinFar7612

The enforcer. Should keep some teams honest

  28. gothenburgpig

Great, the Geertsen crowd can shut up. Is he playing tonight?

  29. Anonycron

This is our Ryan Reaves overreaction. Notice how the Rangers let him walk? Because having a pylon tough guy on the bench is not the deterrent you think it will be. He’ll get into a few meaningless fights with the pylon tough guys from other teams. This won’t stop Trouba from running through our roster. It won’t stop Tkachuk from bullying our captain.

So what is an actual detterent, then? Building a physically tough roster that covers each line and pairing and that can take care of themselves and each other. It’s ok to have a few Panarin’s on your team as long as you sandwich them between a Trouba and a Kreider. It’s ok to have a few Hughes’ on your team as long as you sandwich them between a … ? and a … ?
