Honestly the whole Sheary saga has been kinda perplexing. He has thrived in the past playing with star players and you would think that’s the role they envisioned him playing. But he hasn’t really played that kind of role for most of the season. Now to be fair, he’s getting a shot with Stamkos now and it’s going… not great. Hard to know how much of that is Sheary and how much of that is Stamkos not really being able to drive play and create.
Really this is just indicative that full NTC/NMC should generally be reserved for star players or core pieces. Role players really shouldn’t get them at all and if they do they should be very limited. Being locked into three years of an underperforming role player is absurd.

Sheary is a problem but our biggest problem is our scoring right now. We’re averaging less than three goals a game right now.
Vasy hasn’t been the best lately, and that’s understandable after his surgery, but it feels like if he doesn’t have an insane game, we can’t score enough to win.
Something needs to happen to get us some depth scoring. It probably won’t happen this season, but that needs to be his plan going forward.

Should be noted that the NTC changes to a M-NTC next year but he should not be given that luxury if we can get out from him this year.
I was actually excited when we signed him. His resume I thought was pretty good and seemed to be a good fit for most of the teams he played for. But the more I watch him the more frustrated I get. He doesn’t fit in Coop’s system and some of his decision making…is baffling to be polite as possible.
