So here’s the rumor

Looks alright to me. Though Toffoli is UFA at end of season.

I dunno. It’s…fine? Not sure Top Titty gives us much of a boost and makes our cap issues worse, unless someone is on LTIR longer than they’re letting on. Kaliyev doesn’t have a ton of value but I can’t imagine they give up Toff for him and a 3rd, basically. Would be tops to see Toffoli back in the Kings jersey tho

  2. RalphReynolds87

Sold. Bringing Toff back would be on brand and a stellar addition, especially if we play that LTIR game…

  3. FakeTreverMoore12

I’d be very surprised to see Toffoli go for this little, but I’d be happy about it. The real question is how we would fit everything into the salary cap if anyone comes off LTIR earlier than expected. At least with this scenario, we wouldn’t have to worry too much about upcoming contract negotiations with Byfield and Roy since we’d be dumping cap on a rental.

I don’t know if you watched the segment but this isn’t a “rumor” this was purely speculative by some TV talking heads. They were just discussing trades they personally thought might work. There’s no real truth behind this trade proposal

  5. twills2121

not interested unless Kempe or Arvidsson are out till end of season – apart from that, Toffoli isn’t better than those two.

  6. fuckin-slayer

i don’t like the idea of going after a rental

  7. Surprised we’re not seeing Pacioretty in the rumour mill more often. Really good contract for a potential impact player. Could fill a similar role for a team like LAK. Probably cost less too

  8. Barf, no thanks.  I like Toff, but he’s not the final piece to push us over and there’s no way we can resign him without dropping other players.  Kaliyev should only be moved for a long term asset.  Helenius is too interesting of a bottom 6, cost controlled player.

  9. Onedayimhere

The Devils are still in position to get to the wildcard. I don’t see them making a move that doesn’t involve the improving in improving in goaltending.

I gotta admit that I’m a fan of both teams so i recognize that I’m biased here and open to debate.

  10. aughtrocktalk

We can bring this closer to reality if we beat NJ Tomorrow

  11. raymondliang

Id swap out Helenius for someone else since I think his size could prove to be useful in a future 4C role. But if you’re trying to acquire someone who’s on pace for 35+ goals, you’re gonna have to give. This team still struggles with finishing as a whole, so if we do decide to be buyers and go full Vegas with the cap space, adding someone with Toffoli’s numbers makes sense

  12. a_very_weird_fantasy

Toffoli is a rental. I don’t like it.

  13. MediumRareSteak18

This is a laughably cheap package for toffoli and would not be cap compliant when kempe, Anderson, and RV come back (all coming back at least 2 weeks prior to the playoffs). On top of that, devils are still fighting for a WC position, there even trying to get markstrom at this pt. Doubt this happens and if it does, Roy or some larger pieces will have to go the other way (or another trade needs to happen)

  14. MumkeMode

No way, a rental like that is for a team that could make a deep run and are shoring up depth. Thats not what we are

  15. VerifiedBackup9999

Does anyone seriously think Toffoli gives the Kings a chance to make a deep run? In the best case, he helps them win a series and saves Blake’s job. I don’t like that.

  16. OddPhilosopher599

It’s a no from me. This team doesn’t have it. We are becoming thin in Ontario. We need to trade Roy for some draft assistance and retool for next season.

  17. robotscantsurf

where is the cap room for this? someone would have to retain…maybe they could get a third party, but that means the price goes up and I dont like that. I am all for trying to unload Kaliyev, but lets face it his value is quite low. Also, as much as I like Toffoli, i don’t think that he helps push this team to the second round.

  18. Drop the 3rd round draft pick and give us a 2nd and 3rd would work. There’s no room for Arty or Helenius. A 2nd or 3rd allows us to start rebuilding the pipeline.

  19. Stolthet24

This is a low cost to pay IMO. Does that work for our cap though? Doesn’t seem like it would…

  20. adulting247

love TT, but this is an overpay IMO – esp for a rental

  21. simonjr76

No we can’t keep adding back to the old boys club.

  22. Rooftop720

No rentals. We need a better trade. We lose players and a pick for a rented player, we loss if we do this trade.

  23. There is no reason to go after a rental this season. This team will barely make the playoffs, if at all, and there is no way they are going past the first round.

Man, what a bummer this season is turning out to be.

  24. Philatangy

Can’t happen with the Kings Salary cap, unless we expect that Arvidsson (or Kempe) will out the entire regular season. So far, he is rumored to be back before playoffs.

  25. theRealBerj

i love Toffoli. i can wear my 73 again! but we are not winning the cup this year. build for years to come

  26. -FR0STY-one

Might as well bring Tanner Pearson back with Tyler.

  27. I have an emotional attachment to helenius but nj could definitely use his size

  28. KingsoftheNHL

What a terrible fucken trade.. Blake is an idiot if he makes that trade

  29. I don’t see why people hate this. We’re not giving up a top pick or top prospect hereand Toffoli is putting up great numbers.

  30. jrgardenlover

Why trade for TT when he can be signed as a free agent next season? Ride with Kaliyev and see what Helenius can do as a 3C or 4C.

  31. KingsFan96

We got Madden, a 2nd and a 4th when we traded him away. Giving up Kaliyev, Helenius, and a 3rd is essentially a wash IMO except TT is older.
