As an outsider it does strike me as odd the level bitterness i sense from Sabre fans when they shit on Eichel. Obviously I understand that the Eichel era was a massive disappointment. It’s also understandable that Sabres fans would rag on him and boo etc. But the level of vitriol seems to be so much deeper than you would typically expect. There must be more to it than I realise. I mean obviously he was a disappointment in terms of what was expected when he was drafted. But I feel like if the exact same situation played out in Montreal that Eichel would of course be booed when he touched the puck, but that he would generally otherwise be beloved. Is it not the consensus that the organization is mostly to blame for how they mismanaged the Eichel era? And it seems that Eichel’s camp was right about his surgery? I get that he’s not that likeable of a personality but I’m just confused as to why the anger is so heavily directed at Eichel and not management of the organization . I mean their playoff drought alone tells us that their management has long been a shit show. And i genuinely don’t mean that as a shot at you Sabres fans. I respect how dedicated of a fan base you guys have. I’m just wondering what I’m missing here.

Honestly, after this season, I don’t give a shit about Eichel. Maybe he, ya know, wasn’t the problem and knew something?
And, before everyone attacks me, I’ve been a die hard fan since 99, through it all. But there comes a point where harboring hate for an excellent player with a huge drive and desire to win wanting out of this shit show, I can’t blame him.
