We have pieces like Morrow, Pono, Suzuki, FUS, etc that all can be moved for him. If we don’t have to move Necas for him then we keep our number one trade piece and add a top forward.

The Canes are never in the market for top rentals. They cost too much for one run.
The Canes also haven’t signed a big 30+ year old contract yet. I don’t see Guentzel being their one exception unless he is willing to sign for ~5 years rather than 7-8.

A blues fan in the game thread yesterday mentioned buchnevich, which i thought was interesting. The fans are asking for a first a defensive prospect and nhl body. So probably end up a little less than that, although blues have been amazing at getting their 1sts lately.
I feel like coghlan + a couple picks might actually make sense here, or morrow and like a 2nd
Would be a good add too and not a rental.
Guentzel would be perfect here though if we could get him signed for a bit.
