I for one like Torts but it was absolutely hilarious for him to do that whole "Hes a good man" song and dance after spending damn near a full season dragging Hayes through the mud and publically humiliating him lol. Like sure bud, go ahead and save face.

Ill preface my Torts comments by saying I was an Infantryman in the Army, so that experience may color my opinion a bit:
If I were good enough to play in the NHL I would love love love to play for a guy like Torts. He demands you give him everything you have, well at this level of hockey and with the amount of money thrown around like M&M’s shame on you for needing that extra motivation in the first place. Effort should never be an issue in pro sports and if it is, it’s not the coach’s fault, it’s a shitbag person with mad skills and no spine.
Sure he was not quiet about his feeling that Hayes was a fuckup, but he was Tort’s fuckup and he will defend him against outside attack even to the detriment of his reputation or career. Running afoul of the press can bring serious heat to a coach and if things don’t go well on the ice management may shorten a coach’s leash knowing they aren’t popular in the media. If Hayes had approached his gift of an NHL contract with the proper attitude and effort he would never have had an issue. Spoiled athletes should spend a winter digging ditches for 20 an hour, or whatever if they need some perspective on what making millions to play a child’s game really is all about.
Onto the Carter Hart elephant in the room. You all have an obligation to continue to discuss the ongoing ramifications of this scandal, but as it relates to sports and the Flyers specifically, since you are sports news guys. Leave the other stuff, legal,moral, whatever to the appropriate forums please. I fully support your sentiment of not wanting to discuss the “issue”, but you do have to explain the second and third order effects that it has on hockey…

The alumni game was a good time. The attendance was a lot better than the one 2 years ago too. I was not expecting to see the Cup and the BSBs lifting it again, what a great memory. It was also nice to dust off the Richie jersey and I spotted a lot of them there.
