  1. It makes sense to move Harris. There is just no room for him in MTL. Personally I would add him to a bigger package for an impact player though.

  2. Wow, you're way off on your analysis of Kent, Hughes' decision making process. I'm actually pretty disappointed in your analysis of this situation. Can you name me one time when Kent has given up more value in a trade than he's received? Yes, they want to make space for the younger defenceman and yes Harris is on the trade block but getting a second round pick for a kid who's already been developed and playing a regular shift that's laughable. Here's the way it's going to go. Kent is going to use one of his first round draft picks and that's one of the late ones add Harris and then get them self a pretty good young offensive player.

  3. I havent watched alot of Harris but I have seen some nice offensive plays on the nightly higjlights..
I'm just curious with how's his defensive game??

  4. An interesting fact about Harris is that he did have a multi goal game in his rookie season. The last 3 Habs rookie d-men to do that were: PK Subban, Markov, and Schneider. It's hard to say for sure but I somewhat feel like that could be an omen. Plus, he is able to play both sides so that makes him somewhat valuable even if he only turns out being a 7th d-man. He should at least become a legit 5th d-man on most teams.

  5. Harris will likely be part of a transaction…this summer. This is the trade deadline coming up and Harris is not the type of defenders which contenders are looking for. They need experience over youthfulness !!!

  6. Sure it’s “moving the pick forward” but you’re lucky to get a Jordan Harris in the 2nd round. Most likely you won’t even get an nhler, so it’s tough.

  7. Montreal has 33 picks over the next 3 drafts and they are not shopping for picks anymore. If Hughes is smart, he has almost 25 million to use this summer and he already has a young core. He will be looking to get players in the 27 to 33 age group to fill out the line upnext season and at least make a push for a playoff spot. The rebuild is nearing its end. Calgary will need more then a 2nd round pick considering they already have 5 first and 5 seconds over the next 3 years.

  8. Habs fan here. And no I would not trade Harris for a 2nd rounder straight up . I'd put him in a package for something bigger and better.

  9. I don't see why if you are Calgary you'd think Harris is worth a 2nd. A 2nd for a guy who can't crack Montreal's lineup every night? 1.5 blocks per game, less than a hit per game. Bad takeaway vs giveaway number. Guys not big, and he shoots left. There's nothing special about any of that. As it stands right now he's a bottom pairing left with no specialty who can't crack a bottom feeders lineup every night. He's still young so that's something I guess but I don't know that I'd give up a 4th for that player. Certainly not a second. that's out to lunch even if it's a late second it's too much. If Montreal wants something for the kid the smarter play is to keep him around and hope he improves. You'd be trading him at a value low point right now.

  10. considering that 2nd is gonna be a late 2nd I think that would be a good price for a guy who would be a solid 3rd or even 2nd pair D man.

  11. IDK why so many people harp on points your only going to score points if your on the top two lines otherwise forget it.Even if your on the second line with no PP time your production is very limited so it all comes down to how Calgary would use him.
Harris is decently smart he can play all ends decently but has never been given enough high end ice time to prove himself so you never know.I will say that he does not shoot enough and that matters if on the top two lines.
However he tends to try and play smart defensively so not the guy to pinch in and take chances so offensively I don't think he is your guy but if looking for a capable steady D man he is pretty solid.

  12. If I was Calgary I would look to Kovacevic I feel he is very under rated he can pinch in and is a smart D man and 2 years in a row a PLUS defenseman on a really bad MINUS team.
I do not think the coach or manager respects Kovacevic so imo he could be had and maybe cheaper than you think.

  13. This move – Harris to Calgary for 24 2 round pick – is a good move in terms of freeing up space for Hudson, Mailloux et al but will not do much for Montreal's most pressing need – goal scorers. A 55th or so pick is not very likely to develop into a consistent 30 goal scorer. Having said this, I would make the trade because Harris' value is not going to get higher if he does not get ice time to develop. Certainly by next season's training camp, he needs to be traded.

  14. Sounds like the description of Harris is a marginal part-time player. Who would pay a 2nd round pick for a guy that is a part-time player? Sounds like a backward step, not a forward step. I would say a 4th or 5th round pick for the player is more realistic.
