IF this collapse happens (and I'm the LAST person who wants that), you can blame the money-hungry owner who needed to put a trash logo on the most beautiful jersey in sports.
There's been a glaring hole on enforcer / big hitter on D. It changes the psyche of the team. When Wings D is weak, they're terrible. Someone who can bring in physicality can slow an all-star team's momentum especially in playoffs when minor injuries are taken seriously. We've got ok goalies but who's manhandling the other team's offense off them? Who's protecting Kane? Debrincat is the fighter? How stupid is that if he gets a hand injury. I wish Stevie could rent a D with mediocre stats but big physicality. Why go into the playoffs half assing it? The team's earned it. Stevie owes them an exciting opportunity.
They need a Shanny type trade. Id be calling Staois to see what the price tag is on Brady.

Been saying it for a while now, The Wings are not an all in team yet, Wait until the core is solidified with playoff experience, that's when you can add and subtract pieces. Not that's not to say Stevie can't or won't make a move but he won't rush and he won't make a move unless it's for term, picks but he's not adding a rental he can't sign. Maybe he trades for Hanifin who knows. I have been a wings fan through the darkest days the dead wing era and the Wings have not even come close to being that bad, younger fans I'm telling you from experience have patience, Stevie isn't building a win now team he's building a perennial playoff team and if we are as fortunate as I've been to watch 4 cups in 10yrs we will have that potential every year for a long time and feasibly forever if the draft pipeline stays open because I never see Stevie giving away picks for rentals like Kenny did
They'll be just fine. If anything, adding a patch to the jersey was a horrible decision. Money talks and that's a big issue.
