NHL Trade Rumours – Habs & Flames Trade? Ullmark & Toffoli to LA + Kuznetsov Clears Waivers

NHL Trade Rumours – Habs & Flames Trade? Ullmark & Toffoli to LA + Kuznetsov Clears Waivers

We have lots of news and rumors to discuss today including the latest trade talk out of the Calgary Flames they clearly will be a team that’s very busy down the stretch here heading to the NHL trade deadline with the latest updates regarding their blue line Noah hanin where’s his preferred destination Jacob

Marrom what’s happening with him some other defenseman they’re having a key look at to bring in to replace the defenseman they’ve moved out as well uh including players in Montreal and Nashville big talk out of Boston as well but a potential lenus allmar trade uh could be linked to the team link to

The LA Kings we’ll discuss further there as well if Genny Keta found himself on NHL waivers we’ll discuss that situation uh plus lots of other news around the league including some big injurying updates out of Columbus uh roster moves out of Toronto a few others and ass

Signing in New York all that coming up next welcome back to another video here at top sh hockey as you see we got lots to talk about today um certainly running a bit bit of a different schedule here as as we’ve seen in some couple videos here posted the last few days uh

Certainly have in case you w to where my way on the road uh on vacation and uh on ended up on the west coast here so normally I’m on the East Coast for 4our time difference for me for where I normally am compared to here so it’s a

Long travel day and it’s kind of thrown off my uh schedule here a bit so we’ll try to get back on track over the next couple of days and uh kind of get content posted at its normal time hopefully but lots of news to talk about let’s start with the big situation

Evolving if guine could SS off in Washington uh of course just a couple days back was about 48 hours ago we found out that he was released from the NHL player assistance program uh which was you know good to hear in a way CU obviously he uh went into that program

Seeking help and assistance and clearly uh he needed that but he was just released from that program and then the very next day not even 24 hours later later the capitals placed him on waivers uh so that was certainly not shocking but somewhat surprising with the timing

But clearly their intentions were to get him to the miners or have another team pick him up he Stills another year in his contract 7.8 million we knew it was very unlikely uh he did not get picked up he has cleared and the capitals have assigned him to ahl’s uh Hershey

Affiliate so certainly a situation where uh you know veteran player making a lot of money gets s down which is not uh very common I believe he’s the highest salaried NHL player to ever be uh sent down and put on an active AHL roster so that’s quite uh quite telling I don’t

Know what the future holds for him will he be recalled will they keep him down there until they can eventually make him move if they can’t move them uh will there be a um buy out this summer I mean they’ve been talking about moving on

From Kusa for a long time and it’s just it’s well overdue but because of the contract very complicated to make it happen I do wonder if putting him through waivers now ahead of the deadline it might increase their chances of getting a a team to take them because

They can send them down but there’s still lots of money going to be eating up on salary cap but they still have to offer an incentive so I don’t see it happening but you never know it still was a a big uh a big play by the

Capitals to put him on waivers obviously I’m sure his um his reps and himself are not pleased with it but he hasn’t really lived up to his contract and you got to understand the team’s got to be able to do something here to move on so we’ll

See what comes next for those two that’s definitely a relationship that’s broken and needing to uh be repaired likely by moving on uh some other updates around the league we got a big update on an injury in Columbus youngster Kent Johnson um it’s done for the year here

Early uh he’s got a torn lab room in his shoulder U so he’s going to require surgery and will be out for an extended period of time makes sense to uh not bother trying and play through it and get this done now uh so we can try to

You know have more of a summer available for training to get ready for next year so that’s certainly not good news in Columbus um hopefully Johnson can make a full recovery and um be back ready to go next year uh we have some other news as well regarding some injuries the kxs

Have Tyler Meers out week to week um the Leafs yesterday which well feels like an eternity go because my travel time and the time difference here’s really kind of messed me up but before yesterday’s game they activated yarn croak and sent Nick Robertson back to the miners uh the

Robertson was mainly the one selected because he doesn’t need waivers so it was an easier move uh I don’t suspect he be down there for too too long a few signings as well the Philadelphia Flyers today signed Denver Barkley who gets his three-year ELC uh he was a 2023 third

Round selection having a phenomenal year on the OHL for the London nights with 87 points in 57 games not overly big player though he’s only 59 154 so he’s certainly going to hope that he adds some size and strength to have a better shot making the NHL I know in today’s

Game size isn’t as important as it used to be but um that’s that’s still to my opinion small and small enough frame to the point that it’s going to be risking injury and whatnot so uh we’ll see but he’s looking like a real solid player in

Junior but big jump to the pros we’ll have to see how that goes but getting him signed is a a big step for the Flyers and the Rangers have signed Jonathan Quick to a one-year contract extension as well um good little raise for about 400,000 morning making this

Year is getting 1.27 five million for next year so anybody who thought Jonathan Quick was kind of washed and near the end of his career he’s still near the end yes but not he’s not done and he’s had a real solid year and played a big role for the Rangers

This year in their uh first place team you know largely because of uh what he’s been able to do amongst others there in the Big Apple so nice to see quick bounce back and have a real solid campaign uh for the Rangers obviously last year R he ended up in Vegas I mean

He was basically used as a spare part for them where he’s come to New York with a bigger role and certainly flourished um because of that now as I mentioned as well where I am now on the west coast it is uh it’s late Sunday

Night here so it’s into the we hours of the morning uh Monday I guess on the East Coast which was seems to be probably a higher percentage of the viewers but on Saturday headlines on Hockey Night in Canada Elliot Freeman talked about a bunch of situations but

He did talk about Jacob marstrom and Calgary uh we had heard the comments made by markom to uh Eric Francis uh in the media scrum few days back uh with the Flames clearly called out Flames management was not happy how the whole situation was handled with the trade

That came to be um you know I think Freeman suspects that marksim was kind of led to believe this trade the Devils was going to happen and he was going to get moved and then it didn’t happen and Well he kind of probably wishes they

Wouldn’t have come to him to wave if it wasn’t going to be a for sure done deal um but he he called out Flames management publicly and obviously not pleased with how everything has gone there uh but Freeman states that the Devils have definitely decided that

Markam is their Top Choice he is their preferred uh goalie that they want to Target here so they’ve made it clear to Calgary that they’re willing to going to re-engage and kind of renegotiate this deal there was even some reporters saying that they believe that the Devils

Would be willing to look at this with no salary retention which would change things a bit for the Flames too so obviously that’s a that’s a big big change now when it comes to marstrom uh Freeman made mention if we don’t see this deal come together before the

Deadline don’t be shocked if the Flames um don’t move them and don’t be surprised if the Devils don’t necessarily go after another goalie because they they’re pretty set on getting markstrom by the sounds of things that um he said if you don’t see them make another move for a

Goalie this deal is probably going to get Revisited in the summer and marrom likely does end up in New Jersey at least it sounds like the odds are um pretty good um long term so we’ll see where things go but the Devils seem to be pretty well have their heart set on

Bringing marsham to New Jersey whether not he makes it before the deadline or after the season is another story but we’ll see uh Tom forgal seems to be quite content on that lots of other deals a lot of Calgary that we need to talk about when it comes to Noah Hanahan

There’s further information today again from more reporters and uh kind of piggy banking on the info that Freeman put out a few days ago and did discuss on Saturday headlines as well the Noah hanan’s preferred destination uh from enough sources appears to be the Tampa Bay Lightning we know they have the

Ability to do this now now because of the Mel cev injury but on a long-term basis to bring in Hanahan and to sign him to an extension will be tricky um and I do wonder what kind of role that’ll be in them keeping Steven stos still young enough that it makes sense

To to get a long-term deal for them um if if they want to bring him in but it will complicate keeping Captain Steven stos um so we’ll see I mean there’s other teams def in the mech just because it’s hannan’s preferred destination doesn’t mean that’s definitely where

It’s going to be Tampa I don’t know what their offer would be to the Flames but Freeman did mention that the Flames are looking more for some top prospects more so than picks um that they would like to get some prospects already drafted probably a little closer to stepping in

And being able to play in the lineup so this deal may not necessarily be loaded with high-end draft Capital as it might be hopefully loaded with a really good couple of prospects but we’ll have to see where that goes but uh hanen to Tampa appears to

Be uh you know a thing that’s got a lot of weight behind it now like I mentioned before the Bruins are definitely in the mix I think they’re more so looking at the forward group though and the Bruins are a team that struggled as of late they’ve they haven’t done well I think

They have got three regulation wins in their last 10 including five overtime time losses so points wise they still keeping up okay but this team has not been the same uh when it comes to just kind of mowing down their opponents and picking up wins a lot of what a lot

Of us thought we’d see in the beginning of the year with no berser on no CI and see that regression lately it’s been showing so I’m not sure which is the real Team here that we’ll get but certainly the Bruins have had their fair share of struggles lately um so a golly

Can think would be interest for sure now the Bruins also have some other stuff that we’re going to talk about here in a moment regarding their goenda Flames uh obviously with you know hanin being on the Move tan was already gone some defenseman that they’re looking at to

Bring in to be the future of this blue line includes Tyson Berry in Nashville uh there is some reportedly serious interest from the Flames there we know that Nashville is definitely you know almost definitely going to move bar ahead of the deadline for sure so that brings him in possibly to

The Flames then you’ve got a go Jordan Harris of Montreal apparently is generated a lot of interest from Calgary we had heard about Harris before that there is definitely going to be uh a player that we likely see Montreal move and there’s lots of interest there uh in

The case of Barry and Harris uh obviously we know Barry is not sticking around in Nashville longterm and the hab defenseman have both been um you know in the rumor mill here as of late and on the Flames radar so it is possible we may see Calgary go after one or both of

Those guys uh so we’ll see there when it comes to the LA Kings there is some talk as well that with the Devils having their struggles lately they may try to go after Tyler tley for a reunion in Los Angeles obviously he’s been moved a few

Times since he left la but he had some of his greatest success at least winning the Stanley Cup there for sure and with the Wingers they have out injured right now there is some interest apparently from Rob Blake and T Foley so with the

Devils being on a bit of a skid and now looking like they’re most likely not going to get in the playoffs I do wonder if def Foley will possibly uh want to be moved rather than finish the season there so we’ll see where that goes but defly going back

To LA is not not really um a shocking thought and it wouldn’t be surprising if that did happen but there are other teams with interested to FY as well including his former team to Vancouver canu so we’ll see where things go on that front um when it comes to the

Goalies though Boston Bruins goalie lus allar is still generating some interest uh legit interest out there as well according to Boston hockey now there is a lot more talk and speculation that the Bruins may be more serious about making a move here obviously having these two great goalies is a luxury that many

Teams feel like they can’t afford to give up but but certainly does complicate things moving forward as well from a cap perspective and everything so you know moving on from one of their goalies is something that does make some sense now according to some reporters out there lenus alark uh has generated

Serious legit interest from a team like the LA Kings as well the kings are a team that likely will make multiple additions the LTI availability um you know allmark that’s it’s not a given to get moved but should Boston move him I suspect they would

Much rather to see him go west rather to an Eastern Conference rival who you know could end up having him be their goalie in the playoffs so some players in La that was reportedly you know on a block that could be of interest to Boston would be youngsters like uh you know

Arthur CV Alice kerfoot uh there’s some other prospects up there maybe a first round pick so the Kings and Bruins certainly could do some business here but again allmark will definitely have full say over this as well given his no trade um we’ll have to see where it goes

But if the Bruins are serious about making additions outside of their goalies I don’t know if there’s a ton of value there for what they can add so we’ll have to see uh where that goes but at the end of the day um over time they’re going to have to make some adjustments

Here to kind of you know balance their team out so we’ll see it’s a luxury that they have right now in these two great goalies will one of them get moved to make uh you know additions in other areas to see if this team can still

Contend for a staning cup so we’ll see what happens there but omark definitely getting some legit interest on the trade market so we’ll see what happens if you’re new to the channel of course make sure you subscribe and stick around we’ll keep you up to date with the

  1. This video completely blew my mind! The creativity and effort put into it are truly commendable.๐Ÿญ

  2. Ullmark for what? A few prospects? Lol. Iโ€™d rather keep the tandem then have a few alright prospects.

  3. Toffoli looked rough against the King's yesterday. Don't think they'll be looking to add him. King's are playing up tempo & have too many slow guys.

Ulmark has too large of a cap hit for the King's to trade for. Also has no good playoff experience & only has one more year under contract. Can't see giving up very much for him.

  4. I know it calledโ€ TOP SHELF HOCKEYโ€,
But maybe when you record the video lay off the stuff on the โ€œ TOP SHELFโ€. Lol.

  5. Thanks for the content again but you need a rest .
That was like an old 45 playing at 33 but kudos for giving us the update

  6. Great report from the west coast Mike!
Re: Devils: they are floundering. They desperately need a "G". They've got talent BUT need some help in the pipes.
Re: Jordan Harris: He would be a good option for Flames to make a deal for. Habs have overabundance of young talented "D" and Harris may be the odd man out. I like the kid but Habs are overstocked. He wants to play so if Habs can upgrade up front via a trade then I say deal him.
    PS…..get some sleep dude…๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ˜

  7. harris is the kind of guy the flames ought to target for their back end – a cerebral, intelligent defender who can move the puck. long term top 4 dman. problem is, as a habs fan, i'm not sure what we'd ask for back. a lot of their guys either have more potential, not enough potential, make too much, or are too old. i'd ask for sharangovich, but they probably say no.

if the devils move toffoli it means they've completely given up on the season. if they get markstrom, it means they'll try to make a run. they won't do both. they'd be wiser to target markstrom imo. daws can develop behind him, VV can go in the deal, and schmid can be a capable 3G or they can move him.

if ullmark gets dealt at all it's an offseason deal.

  8. Hello from way up north Timmins Ontario Canada very interesting as always enjoy the rest of your vacation ๐Ÿ™‚๐Ÿ’๐Ÿฅ…๐Ÿ๐Ÿ‡จ๐Ÿ‡ฆ

  9. As per; I wonder if the move to demote Kuznetsov was for the purpose of trading him to a team that wants to take a crack at him, without initially absorbing the salary cap hit? He can be traded now, and report directly to any team's minor league affiliate, and then be recalled for the playoffs AND, AT NO COST to the salary cap!! (What a RIDICULOUS system The NHL has in place); but, as it is what it is, WHY NOT trade him for some assets to a contender? Helps Washington, assuming they're done with him, and doesn't hurt ANY team acquiring him, but could pay great dividends, as at least a depth forward in the playoffs, and with any spark of his old game at all, could be a great bonus to a contender that doesn't need to recall him until the playoffs begin! ??? Canucks?

  10. I believe the players you were referring to from the Kings are Kaliyev, and Alex TURCOTTE not KERFOOT. Don't think Top Shelf is high, i just think he needs to get some sleep! Sweet dreams, and don't forget, the trade deadline is the end of this week. Stay on your toes.

  11. Ullmark does not have total trade protection. Jake Debrusk needs a change of scenery. and the bruins to move on from Debrusk. the talent is there. but the huge inconsistencyโ€™s have been there from day one. everybody thought it was his toxic relationship with Cassidy. he had a real solid season last year. if the bruins wanted him long term you think an extension would be in place. but you have to feel that they are not going to let Debrusk walk for nothing.
