Laf gets lots of chances and needs to finish better. Is he getting better? Yes… Will he reach elite status? NOPE!!! I don't know off the top of my head put I would bet his shooting percentage is blah. But I judge players on their playoff performance.
Marc and Anthony, I agree with what you said about Laffy. His number does not say he is a franchise player. at the beginning of your show i was ready to call you out on it but then as I listening to your point YOU ARE RIGHT.. he is not even the best in the draft. But it happens sometimes you hit on first overall pick and sometimes its a miss.
This is the first season he has gotten real minutes and he's still only 22, if and I mean if he shows even more improvement next season then you consider an extension. But he is 100% a top 6 forward, I just don't know if he's more of a Buchneivich or a Frank Vatrano, yet. I 100% think it's disingenuous putting it all on Panarin. How many players have tried to play with Panarin and couldn't do it? How many players have they put with Kreider and Zibanejad that couldn't do it? Remind me what happened when Ottawa gave up on Zibanejad? Also Gallant hated utilizing young players, it didn't matter how good Lafreniere played and that's a fact. How do I know this? Gallant finally gave Lafreniere a chance at top minutes when his job was on the line and it worked. You know what he did immediately after? Put him right back down where he was.
He has more even strength goals than McDavid lol. If Laffy was on the PP, he'd be a 60 plus point player, and he's only 22 years old. Is he at his prime? Hell no, is he growing and getting better? Hell yea, anyone could see that who's watched him over the years.
Look up the teams records for all those 1st picks first few years. The teams gave them minutes and said fuck wins. Laffy and Kakko had to learn how to play winning hockey while trying to develop during Covid, during playoff runs with vets driving the bus
This stretch is the first time Kakko has been THE MAN on a line. And he looks like it
Jack Hughes is a team difference maker, he’s also getting chronically injured and missing big swathes of the season.
Laf is playing on his off wing and barely gets PP time, the majority of his goals have been 5v5. I’m pleased with how he’s grown, could he be better? Yes. Should we call him a bust? No
Anthony just sounds like another slightly delusional sour isles fan 😆 don’t get mad Anthony lafreniere will be wreaking havoc on the isles for a long time just tell the truth yes lafreniere is having his breakout type season he’s looked like one of the rangers best players consistently all season
I cant blame Anthony too much tho cuz he doesn’t watch the rangers every night and he’s an isles fan which makes him a rangers/laff hater
When a player is drafted #1 everyone expects him to be a superstar after year few years and he hasn’t. But he’s been on 3rd line and Rangers have one of the worst player developments in the league
There is a HUGE gap between a player who did not live up to the hype and a total BUST. To call Lafreniere a bust shows ignorance of the sport.
You can’t say Laf isn’t playing his best season.
Yes Granted he’s playing consistently with one of the best point producers in the league BUT you can’t just take any player and have him produce with Panarin.
Hes made some seriously hear plays that lead to goals.
He doesn’t get Power Play time on the first unit.
Had a rocky start because of covid on top of playing in NY not everyone can just come in and dominate. I was getting impatient with him too but this year is his turning point. He just needs to keep improving from here and not regress.
He’s only 22. Doesn’t need to be “the man” so hes still developing into the player he will be fully
And if that’s a consistent 70 point player then so be it.
Usually #1 busts don’t stay in the league
He will definitely stay in the league
Maybe he won’t live up to #1 status but we will see
If you took all of Panarin’s power play points away from him he would have less than 50 points so I don’t understand Anthony’s argument
Laffy is a 3rd like player that’s it’s. He’s not a game-changer and certainly not elite. He’s your typical 3rd line player. 50 point scorer tops. I don’t think we ever see 70-80 points out of him. Playing with Panarin he should have a lot more points he’s getting top 6 player minutes now. He’s a bust for a 1st overall that’s not debatable. He’s a 2nd round pick at best.
Anyone who says AlexIS doesn’t have a clue
Laffy doesn’t get the amount of pp minutes bread or trochek get. No comparison in minutes
This episode is a perfect example why you don’t talk about Rangers players with Isle fans and you don’t talk about Isle players with Ranger fans.
Panarin has a lot of points on the power play
