I’ve been hoping for a complete rebuild (due to Poile’s reload / retool attempts), but, I love your logic. Kind of a rental, but wouldn’t hurt the cap mid-term / long-term. Maybe a guy we’d like to sign to a longer deal. Help the younger guys dev.
My only hesitation is giving up building blocks like picks (even late-rounders) or prospects. We have cap space, but we’re also still carrying dead-money. My thought would be to clean up the Preds payroll (Joey, Duchene, Turris?) before leaning in as a contender … most all the tops contending teams are squeezing every last cent of Cap space to be a realistic contender
