  1. It’s honestly so frustrating how many players we traded or let walk and then we want them back.

Miller, Vatrano, Buchnevich, Tarasenko, even Kane now. Even Tyler Motte we traded for twice.

If that’s the price go get Tuch instead

IDK, but Vatrano for a first rounder in 24 is not a bad bet. He’s a known quantity and the first round looks pretty bad this year after the top 10 are gone.

We need someone on that first(technically second since BLT is our first) line that’ll help take the load off Mika. Someone who’s going to shoot first and ask questions later.

Rangers should be looking at deals like trading a 4th for Duclair and a 2nd plus low prospect for Wennberg or Henrique type deals. The only way the first should be shipped out is for a younger player under control for few years.

Still can’t believe Buch wasn’t locked up in 2019 but instead was being shipped at the draft. Wonder why his trade value was so low between that and the league not caring Wilson tried breaking his neck resulting in a $5,000 fine

Glad Kakko’s not in play. I get why Drury’s balking at a first, but it’s gonna be (hopefully) a pretty low pick and we already have so many guys (Perreault, Othmann, Sykora) coming up the ranks in the next few years. I’d be fine to give up a first for Vatrano or another comparably good RW, as long as it’s not a rental.

Vatrano would be nice but giving up either Kakko or a 1st is a firing squad offense

I wonder if Drury knows that Duclair exists?

Bjugstad can be gotten without having to trade a 1st or top prospects to center the 3rd or 4th line.

Oh you’re trying to fill a hole in your offense? Ok we’ll help you plug one hole if you create another one and give us Kakko. Deal?

Vatrano is a tough buy right now. He’s having a career year so his cost will be inflated. If he repeated this performance next year for us then he’s absolutely worth a 1st. But that’s a huge if, and I don’t think anyone truly believes he can keep this up.

Thank god. I’d rather ride out the lineup we have than overpay/trade Kakko at deadline.

Good to hear. Vatrano is not worth a 1st round pick. Solid depth but he’s a 30 point player who’s getting a lot of PP time on a bad team

i will give ottawa zac jones and a 2nd rounder for tarasenko

On one hand, I understand and fully support trading away reasonable futures to make this team better. Assuming we aren’t losing anyone off the roster, Vatrano (along with a bunch of other guys) makes this team better.

On the other hand, first round picks keep you in the mix on Debrincats and Reinharts in the offseason. Is that Brady Tkachuk this summer? There’s some interesting decisions to make on defense this summer, and we could have the cap space to actually make some big moves.

IMO, if you’re moving your first it has to be for a real difference maker. Vatrano scoring some goals (a good chunk of which are on the PP) on a terrible team with no expectation of defense isn’t that. It gets more appealing with retention or adding Henrique, but Vatrano alone isn’t enough.

At the end of the day though it’s not the guys we bring in who’ll win us the cup, it’s the guys already here. Whoever ends up at 1RW doesn’t matter if Mika and Kreider don’t wake themselves up at 5v5.

  15. With all this talk of kakko im kinda torn.

I think its a mistake if we let him walk and it hurts us (hence our record with him in the lineup vs without)

But for kakkos sake, he would probably be a top 6 guy (and **the** guy on his line with talent around him and not constant line swapping him) and it may unlock him

Also at this point, i think finding a 3C that can score is more important. We have gone through a revolving door of RW with mika and kreider and nothing has really stuck with the them. The only thing that has worked is moving kreider to RW and playing panarin with them

Honestly if I was Drury I’d use the Rempe hype to try and move him for a great asset. Love the kid but I’d sacrifice that lamb for a good return.

    The article title is:

#Matt Rempe may be squeezed from lineup at deadline with Rangers in talks for Alex Wennberg

The problem with Mika And Kreider. They seem to overthink shit a lot. So having a guy like Vatrano would remove that element of “overthinking” he shoots the puck. That’s it. Mika and Kreider know, give it to Frankie he’s going to shoot it. Kakko. They don’t know what the hell this guys gonna do with the puck, thus resulting in some horrible shifts. Idk. Maybe I’m wrong
