Sid’s really about to lose his son and the best winger he’ll ever have 💔

  2. user832906

Hmmm interesting. I feel like the return would have to be huge if dubas is pulling the trigger that soon. Word is there are a bunch of teams interested

  3. Hope all of y’all that have been clamoring for this for months now are happy that the team you supposedly root for sucks enough for this to happen.

I’ll eat crow if it’s a good return. I’m just really skeptical that we’ll be satisfied with it. Can’t remember the last time an NHL trade like this actually had a super positive impact for the seller that got back picks and prospects.

I’d much rather 2 or 3 high quality prospects who have shown positive development and then a couple 3rds/4ths for quantity over multiple late 1sts and some junk prospects. It just doesn’t seem like the odds of hitting on a late 1st are all that different than the odds of hitting on a random 3rd.

Sad, but the right move. Dubas can’t let him just walk away for nothing. I want the best return possible, even if it means NYR or CAR getting him. Charge them a Metropolitan division foe fee or something.

I have delusions that we will trade Jake and then resign him in the offseason

  7. maplevenom7

It sucks but I think it’s the right move. He’s the biggest trade asset in the league right now and the return should give the team much needed assets.

Id rather lose him for something in a bad season than lose him for nothing and still miss the playoffs

Curious of the return. We need top 10 picks or prospects. Fucking anything after top 10 is a bust imo.

  9. I always used to say, for some reason, “Make me a prentzel, Guentzel.” Didn’t make any sense, kind of a take on “Make me a milkshake, Malkin.” But it funny to my 6th grade mind. As they say in the live action He Man movie, “good journey” Jake. Eternia will always be near.

  10. My guess is some combo of Brisson/Cormier/Dorofeyev and picks

  11. George Michael was right. I’m never gonna dance again.

This one is rough, I never ever buy jerseys because every time I buy one the player gets traded(staal, Neal, fleury.) but I bought a jake one pre pandemic because I really thought it would never happen, he was Sid’s winger…. But here we are.

  13. evansometimeskevin

Sad days. I hope it’s a western team I can get behind in the playoffs for Jake.

  14. Waiting for Gagner to clear waivers for cap reasons?

  15. ZibalaBaida

I couldn’t care less about the picks. Late first round lottery tickets might pay off in 3-5 years when we’re drafting top-10 and selling everything anyway. Acquiring NHL-ready prospect(s) + a young roster player with potential could make the next couple years entertaining at least. Hoping it’s Vegas or Vancouver with forwards coming back.

Not happy about it but really interested to see how he does without Sid. I’m not taking anything away from him but, still, having the best player in the world passing to you your entire career is a pretty big deal.

  17. cptjaydvm

Sad day but it needs to happen. The team needs a complete rebuild.

  18. evil_iceburgh

Gonna need another Jake on the roster for discount milkshakes

  19. pangaea1972

He’s a good kid; I’d love to see him hoist the cup in a few months.

  20. Fatboiii69420

On the plus side, Guentzel jerseys will be on sale soon.

  21. Urgh this is really happening is it?
Dreger isn’t as reliable as he use to be

  22. bonnydelrico

I used to watch him play in WBS for pocket change. Me and my friends would totally fangirl over him. End of an era for me if this is true 💔😔

  23. Jake became my favorite player while here. Sad to see him go if true.

  24. barryveryhockey

Trade for Jonathan Lekkerimäki dude is a stud

  25. fierohink

If it’s true, gonna pour out a Jake shake for my fallen homie

  26. Skrrr_eskitit_

it’s better than him walking for nothing in return, i suppose

  27. As long as it isn’t Vegas cheating asses I don’t care just get value in return better than losing him for nothing like previous players.

  28. chicago859

There’s a pretty gd funny universe where we trade Jake, get some nice younger players, we make the playoffs, Vegas misses them and then we re-sign Jake in the summer

  29. This better be a polarizing trade or I’ll actually feel sick to my stomach

  30. LakeSuperior29

I’m sick right now and thought the headline said Jagr trade done by tomorrow night. I wish!

  31. flabergasterer

I’m mentally ready for everyone but the core 3 to be traded for prospects and picks. This year didn’t work. Reload with a younger team and tons of cap space for next year.

  32. rocketcrotch

Years of mismanagement caused this. Fucking tragic

  33. Wow its crazy how long hes been here and yet it feels like he still just got here because he looks 18. Really sad they couldn’t put another run together with him since 17. He will be missed badly.

This feels like the beginning of the end unfortunately. I thought theyd maybe at least make the playoffs this year with a better roster overall.

  34. mattdingus2002

Can we all get Jake shakes for the weekend?

  35. Nickhurley26

I remember 2017 my then gf and I planned a trip across the us. We left from freehold New Jersey and our first night was in Nashville right before the series started. The best I can remember was leaving the Grand Canyon we had the nhl radio on and I remember just being so anxious listening to game 1 when we had no shots and then Jake scored. You’ll never see this but thanks for everything Jake

  36. oxfordclubciggies

I’m thinking probably Nucks or Knights. The team as is, is toast. Even if they were to make it to post season, they’re not winning anything. Not with a PP like they have.
