GAME RECAP: Penguins vs. Blue Jackets (03.05.24) | Smith Gets 500th NHL Point

Tuesday night, the Penguins hosted the Columbus Blue Jackets. This was the third time these two teams matched up against each other this season. Mid-way through the 1st, the Penguins took the lead. Ryan Graves kept the puck in at the blue line and passed it down to Jesse Puljujarvi on the goal line. Puljujarvi drove the net and got the puck in the back of it. Shortly after, Reilly Smith gave are area pass for Evgeni Malkin to pick up with speed entering the zone. Malkin wound up and took a huge slapshot for the second goal. With his assist, Smith now has over 500 NHL points. Early in the 2nd, the Blue Jackets tied the game fast with goals from Johnny Gaudreau and Andrew Peeke. But before the period ended, the Penguins got a lucky bounce. Rickard Rakell on the forecheck applied pressure to the defense and forced a pass. The puck bounced off Rakell and into the net. The Penguins entered the 3rd with a 3-2 lead. The Blue Jackets tied the game once again with a goal from Jack Roslovic. The Penguins answered right back with a goal from Jeff Carter. 1. What do you know, they beat the bottom team in the division, but they sure looked like they wanted to give it away.

  2. First goal is out of order. Go from 8 min on the clock and a good chance, to 5 min and a point on the board. Then 6 mins and the clip of the goal

  3. We won!! Wooooooo! while gotta give up a shortie.

I think I understand why Jarry at times looks like he goes under electrical shock in goal. The defense leaves him hanging out to dry constantly!!!
