Nikolaj Ehlers was back on the second line for the Jets against the Kraken on Tuesday night, and the move was a surprise considering the success Ehlers has had with Mark Scheifele and Kyle Connor. John Lu joins SC with Jay Onrait to explain Rick Bowness’ reasoning.

this is genuinely good journalism. thanks for answering many of our questions jay and john!
He was on the 2nd most the season….
I don’t get the stats nerds logic. “Ehlers is the Jets best player at driving a line! He needs to play with the Jets second best player at driving a line!! Reeeeeeeee”
“Demoted to 2nd line” 😂😂

Really hope to see an addition on the blue line. Couldn’t agree more than even 1 injury to a core d man leaves us exposed. As we saw last game, just that one injury means that Logan Stanley is playing, and I’m not a fan of that, especially during playoffs.
Constantly demoting Ehlers because of his inconsistency while not doing anything to address Connor's poor two-way play is going to cause a rift. Just because Connor can score shouldn't excuse his poor defensive coverage.
