While I don’t think he will be great, you need to see what he can do these last few weeks in a top line role or just trade him already which to get something besides him being a throwaway in a trade you have to play him.
Him playing with slugs or playing 5 minutes a game has accomplished nothing all season and is a waste of everybody’s time.

So many people here are just completely missing the point. Fitz said Holtz can score. Producing and scoring isn’t his issue, it’s every part of his game besides scoring that’s his issue. He needs to work on forechecking and backchecking. He needs to go in and win board battles. Be harder on the puck. These are things he can do even when he’s only playing 8 minutes on the 4th line with bad teammates.

Luke is very good but he acts like Bambi sometimes. I’d like to see him bulk up over the next few years and hopefully hell get his coordination fully together by then as well and be a top 5 defenceman in the league

I wonder if Holtz’s team has some beef with management and this is just some corporate politicking. Like Holtz said something when he was kept in the minors that rubbed management the wrong way. Either way the whole situation is strange. All rookies are going to struggle in their first year. Luke Hughes is another example of a struggling player his rookie year. It’s to be expected. Now the question is whether they can grow and improve and minimize their mistakes in year 2.

Iām gonna say it. Most of the time he was benched or parked on the 4th line he deserved it. Heās made massive strides compared to last year but there is a requisite level of dependability that scorers must demonstrate to play in the NHL. if he wants to play unsheltered minutes with top guys he needs to prove that heās able to play 17 minutes against players that are very capable of taking advantage of his lapses in judgement. Itās very hard to score a goal in the nhl. Itās very easy to give the other team a scoring chance.
