Hard to have a good year when you play 8 minutes a game with 4th liners.

  2. “This is on all us… just kidding it’s all on this lazy ass 20 year old piece of shit who killed Papa Lindy.”

  3. devils744

While I don’t think he will be great, you need to see what he can do these last few weeks in a top line role or just trade him already which to get something besides him being a throwaway in a trade you have to play him.

Him playing with slugs or playing 5 minutes a game has accomplished nothing all season and is a waste of everybody’s time.

This whole situation is on Fitzgerald. From drafting him in the first place, for developing him poorly, and likely selling him low.

I thought Holtz played pretty well last night. Hard to produce on a line with Big Mac, who also actually played better than I thought he would.

  6. klitchell

Anyone have the full text of the article, pretty sure thatā€™s not what he said

  7. BlueBeagle8

I continue to find it fascinating that we have the GM and two coaches saying “this guy’s play away from the puck is not good enough,” and the fanbase response is almost universally “nuh-uh.”

  8. yo_coiley

Heā€™s the kind of guy that needs to play top 6 minutes, not a grinder by any stretch. Itā€™s just not a fit on the fourth line but I gotta think thereā€™s more there, he has a lot of points for his ice time

Holtzy Iā€™m on my way to rescue you from the evil men hold on

  10. Fyredesigns

I can’t wait until we trade him and he Inevitably explodes into a super star player only to shove a hat trick down our throats later down the line šŸ¤£

  11. Grimmer026

Canā€™t even shop him when you go public about it like this

  12. chickenKsadilla

This fan base: So many defensive turnovers! Hold people accountable! What are you stupid??

Also this fan base: I donā€™t care if he keeps making defensive mistakes! Play him anyway! What are you stupid??

  13. Fake-Death

That hasn’t stopped Toffoli and plenty of other snipers from finding success in this league

Novo really knows how to make the headlines. This really isnā€™t a very fair reading of what he said. I listened to the conference and he ripped Holtz and the rest of the team but he was asked specifically about Holtz which is why his response centered around him.

If Fitz wants to rip on Holtz, fine. But there are plenty of other players on this team that deserve being ripped into as well. Not sure what Holtz did to deserve the brunt of “players need to be held accountable” when there are at least 5 players I’d put before him on that list.

  16. AISwearengen

Fan bases love middling players that were picked high. Heā€™s not very good.

  17. Ever_Raiden

So many people here are just completely missing the point. Fitz said Holtz can score. Producing and scoring isn’t his issue, it’s every part of his game besides scoring that’s his issue. He needs to work on forechecking and backchecking. He needs to go in and win board battles. Be harder on the puck. These are things he can do even when he’s only playing 8 minutes on the 4th line with bad teammates.

  18. Jassufakku

I sincerely think Holtz is mid. Hes supposed to be this budding star, but hes horrid away from the puck. Thats whats huge in the show. Fans are delusional about his value. Hes a 2nd round pick at max

  19. Effinehright

he’s 22… Let him grow and develop before ROI talks

  20. CryptoSpyro

Luke is very good but he acts like Bambi sometimes. I’d like to see him bulk up over the next few years and hopefully hell get his coordination fully together by then as well and be a top 5 defenceman in the league

  21. I wonder if Holtz’s team has some beef with management and this is just some corporate politicking. Like Holtz said something when he was kept in the minors that rubbed management the wrong way. Either way the whole situation is strange. All rookies are going to struggle in their first year. Luke Hughes is another example of a struggling player his rookie year. It’s to be expected. Now the question is whether they can grow and improve and minimize their mistakes in year 2.

  22. NJDevilslettucesmoke

This is a joke of a statement coming from Fitz who didn’t get a fucking goalie all year! This atrocity of a season is his fault and the blood is on his hands.

  23. I think Tom Fitzgerald ā€œhas not had a good year.ā€

  24. IIlIlIIllIlllIIllllI

I want to keep him and watch him be good in the top 6 but they fucking refuse to. I dont want to see him go but I hope if he does he makes us look absolutely fucking stupid

  25. slimycoldcutswork

Iā€™m gonna say it. Most of the time he was benched or parked on the 4th line he deserved it. Heā€™s made massive strides compared to last year but there is a requisite level of dependability that scorers must demonstrate to play in the NHL. if he wants to play unsheltered minutes with top guys he needs to prove that heā€™s able to play 17 minutes against players that are very capable of taking advantage of his lapses in judgement. Itā€™s very hard to score a goal in the nhl. Itā€™s very easy to give the other team a scoring chance.

  26. tECHOknology

Doesn’t Fitz know that we would probably be on the road to the president’s trophy if **we had just given Alexander Holtz more TOI?!**

Like, holy fuck, I’m disappointed all around, in his development, in his utilization, in all of it. But the level of perseveration with him has become maddening.

  27. DawgMutt05

Ryan Novozinsky=our very own Larry Brooks

    What a treat!

Maybe he too now can somehow manage to continue to stir up nonsense & print daily monologues to persuade our fanbase, ownership & GM to trade for Kane & Tarasenko and then completely deny & disavow it barely 60 days later.

    Oh joyā€¦.

  28. Live-Within-My-Means

Here is my long list of Devils players who I think are having a good year.

    Tyler Toffoli

Thank you and have a good day.
