Sakic and MacFarland are going back to basically the EXACT same formula that got them a cup 2 years ago.

    • Mittlestadt = Lehkonen 2.0, a highly skilled two way player primed to explode in the right environment

    • Walker = Manson 2.0 (albeit likely a rental), a trad defenseman outperforming all of his counterparts

    • Parise = Cogliano 2.0, a hardcore workhorse veteran for special teams who does everything right and is along for one last ride.

This time, they made out of it like BANDITS by holding onto their prospects and actually freeing up cap space.

    Masterclass from upper management

  2. Straight-Ability

Nearly 5mil in cap space now, We could become even STRONGER. HMMMM

  3. ThunderGoalie35

Panthers got Tarasenko, still no doubt they’re the wagon to beat in the east.

  4. r/hockey as per usual, doesn’t know what the hell they’re talking about. People are flabbergasted by the Avs trading a guy like Byram with such a high ceiling. Thinking we got fleeced. It’s like… Byram was exceptional for the Cup run but he hasn’t gotten back to that level since, and we’re now a year and a half removed from that. He’s been healthy AFAIK and still can’t break the 2nd pairing without injuries to other guys. He might be a 1D in a year or 2 but his ceiling at best for us was 2nd pairing.

So we traded a 2D for a 2C. Seems pretty fair to me. He’ll be a 1D on most teams but the Avs are not most teams. If Buffalo or other pundits wanna say we got fleeced, then go ahead, hopefully we have a championship in the future to flaunt in their faces lol

Roaring 20s gonna feast now that they get pushed down to 3rd line matchups

Think we’re done with the trades? Does management somehow pull a backup goalie? Juice had some great games but it’s still a question if you’re being realistic with yourself.

Not sure who or how they would even do a move at this point, but wonder if they do..

These trades, val coming back, juice finding his footing, and Kovalenko likely coming later this season for the playoff push really have me excited. Plus Landy is technically not still completely ruled out for the playoffs. If the boys can start winning on the road again and Walker and Mittelstadt start clicking with the group quickly, I see the Avs making a good run for the cup

  8. With all these trades causing temporary holes, I’m excited to see JLF tonight. That guy was dynamic when he was last up

  9. This may not mean much, but just taking the temperature online, it seems like Sabres fans are far more upset about this trade than Avs fans

  10. I really, really wanted Mittelstadt but was kinda afraid that it wouldn’t happen since Buffalo already had Dahlin and Power, and would not have any interest in Byram because of that. But I see CMac got them talked into it, the madman.

I don’t fully know who the two trades are but I’ll miss you Bo. Getting our defense shored up is a must. In Cmac we trust.

  12. Big_Liability

Backup goalie is probably next as well as a solid 4C then we are done.

  13. polymorph505

Have to wait and see if Casey and Sean can fit into our system and excel with the Avs, but I’m not happy about either of these moves right now. I’m much higher on Kovalenko than either of those two.

Idk how to analyze trades like these someone tell me if i should be glowing or depressed for the rest of the day

  15. blondespikes22

    I still see EITHER happening

    1) use the cap space for one good player (any position), that can push this team over the top
    2) use the cap space for 2 players likely a depth skater or goalie

  16. ThunderGoalie35

Wennberg to NYR, good trade for Drury. Things are absolutely popping off today

  17. ImmortalMoron3

Jesus, I take one tiny nap and miss mass chaos.

Gonna miss Bo. Papa EJ will take care of him. Like the moves though, I think we’re a better team now. So glad RyJo is off the books.

  18. InevitableAvalanche

Holy heck, I wandered away a bit and come back to all this. Going to take a bit to figure out how I feel about all this. I was thinking it likely that Bo or Girard were going to move. And given the play this year, I was thinking I preferred Girard staying. But I am a little bit not ready to say bye to Bo. I hope this trade works out.

I think RyJo was finally starting to work better. But if Walker fits the team better, then will call it a win.

  19. AllRushMixTapes

I wonder if Byram even gets a full season with Buffalo. This trade just doesn’t make any sense for them considering where their organizational strength is. Bo needs to go to a place where he’ll get some prime PP time to reach his potential, and in Buffalo he’s no better off than he was here.

  20. myITprofile

Seems like the top two players talked about being moved lately have been Byram and RJ….

  21. fatch0deBoi34

I have the utmost confidence in the Avs after these moves, but wow it’s been interesting seeing all the big boy teams of the NHL all loading up this week. Seems like every legit contender made massive moves
