I would rather they pay more in AAV for less term but I can live with this.

Much better than I was expecting! Probably some value in eventually trading him but I also won’t be mad to keep him.
zach2thefuture
Boom, easy. Trade him down the road
Icecube3343
I think if anyone feels REALLY strongly about this either way that would be an overreaction. Assuming we move on from Risto in the off season, I think Seeler is similar if not better than Risto for way cheaper, and as much as I like to play the prospects you do need some amount of NHLers. With an increasing cap, 2.7 for a good bottom pair defenseman is fine.
Edit: whoops wrong name lol

He’s a fantastic team player and for the way he’s led the D in approach/mentality, absolutely deserves a nice last paycheck. Yes, that last year may hit hard – but he’s worth this for the first 3 in my view, and with cap increasing, happy to take the last one on the nose.

Was hoping for something around two years instead, but that AAV isn’t bad. Although, to be fair, I’m used to seeing Chuck Fletcher numbers so there’s still some PTSD at work in my feelings around extensions

Ya know what. Good for Seeler. The guy deserves this

Once again proving that Di Marco is absolutely full of shit.
Anyone who posts this clown is an idiot.

Can we please not sign anymore Staals now? We have our vet D for the foreseeable future and he’s actually good.
flyerscupchamps19
He’s 30 not 34. That 4th year at 2.7 is at worst annoying and at most an actual asset. If he plays anywhere near this level for the next 2 years we could potentially get more than we would’ve this trade deadline for him. If he falls off then he’s a slightly overpaid 3rd pairing guy or we bury him and he’s a 1.5 million cap penalty. In the meantime we keep a good locker room vet and can win some more games as we keep building

Looks like Dimarco really does just make shit up. But I guess you could say its “in the ballpark” in that everyone knows around what he should make
Would have preferred one less year, but really can’t complain

Danny killing it so far. What a deal
And congratz Seeler!
vivelaal
I feel much better about this than the rumored 3.3 million.
Steppyjim
No trade protections beyond 2 years, low aav, buriable if he falls off a cliff, honestly I’m good with this contract. I think we all wanted one less year but if it got the aav under 3 I can live with it. I like Seels. Definite A material if Laughton ever gets traded

Conspiracy time:
Could someone at the Flyers have fed Di Marco the 3.3m AAV to soften the blow of the actual deal on the process-trusters?
Anyway – good deal.

Big Dick Danny getting a first and then keeping this under 3 mil.

Term and money isn’t to bad.

Honestly a fantastic deal. He teaches the young guys and hey, if we’re in the playoff hunt for the next 2-3 years he’s solid

Love it, he’s been playing his ass off on defense and it’s under $3m. Nothing wrong with this!!

That’s a nickel for every blocked shot.
